Visiting the Sick: A Guide for Parish Ministers

Visiting the Sick: A Guide for Parish Ministers

by Patti Normile

Using her personal experience and training as a hospital chaplain, Patti Normile brings much wisdom and common sense to pastoral visits of the sick in the hospital or at home. She shares with us what it is like to be among the sick and reviews how we can minister both as laypeople and as ordained ministers. Normile says the value of ministry to the sick is immeasurable. It is not just a job. It is a Christian call: "Whatever you did for the least of did it for me." As followers of Jesus, we are called to visit the sick.

This book is outstanding. I used it to facilitate my clinical pastoral experience. My fellow student chaplains were so impressed with it, almost all of them bought a copy. The book gives very simple and understandable suggestions that can be used by all individuals involved in pastoral care.
