What might seem like fantasy to the average reader is reality to Yuri Kagan, or at least it was when he was living the dream life in San Francisco's Castro District bartending at one of the area's hottest spots. Welcome to the Castro everyone thinks they know, but they really don't.
"Vodka & Limelight" is a coming of age, fictitious memoir comprised of short stories that offer an inside look at the glamorous-and often unglamorous-Castro night scene. Beyond the entertaining stories lie a poignant look at life told from Yuri's perspective. See how bartending gave Yuri a voice and drove him to standup comedy. His thoughts are captivating, hilarious, at times heartbreaking, and always honest. Through his stories you'll easily fall in love with this funny, gay, Russian Jew. This book is edgy, fresh, fun and a great read!"

About the Author
Son of Russian immigrants who came to the United States as refugees, Yuri grew up in San Diego. A place where he learned that while other people tanned, he ignited. Being a pale-kid that stood out is what gave him the ability to laugh at both himself and the world around him. He later moved to San Francisco to attend San Francisco State University where he completed his degree in bad habits and joke telling. That is also where he developed key-insight into the world around him to write, "Vodka and Limelight." A lifestyle site asked him to write a few humorous article about his observations as a bartender and soon the book was born.
Yuri has been profiled in SFWeekly, the Vallejo Daily Republic and received much acclaim for his blog www.YuriKagan.blogspot.com."
