Vodnik presents a captivating introduction to Slavic mythology. Readers will read on the edge of their seat, anxious to uncover the truth behind the creatures the main character meets. Each twist in the story will only excite them all the more. The action is rather lacking, the story moved forward more by suspense than actual conflict, and the story can get rather frustrating at times--"is the vila good or evil already?" Despite this, for the most part, the story will captivate and surprise readers, and leave them wondering about the mythology so much they can't help but look for answers themselves.

Wonderful, imaginative, original. I could not put it down. An author to watch. I hope there will be more adventures with Tomas, Katka, Lesana, and the rest. I can almost imagine a sequel (hint, hint...)
