Voices Carry by Mariah Stewart

FBI agent Genna Snow's successful career cannot fully erase the heartache of a shattered childhood. After breaking the silence surrounding the abusive acts of a summer camp counselor, young Genna was abandoned by her family even as justice was being served in the courtroom. Years later, Genna was forced to relive the pain of abandonment when the man she loved, special agent John Mancini, walked out of her life without explanation.
Now, having returned from his own private hell, John is determined to win Genna back. Even as she struggles to keep their relationship strictly professional, Genna is selected for a special FBI team led by John, charged with tracking down the person behind a series of seemingly random abductions of young women across the country. But as a terrifying pattern begins to emerge, Genna faces the chilling realization that someone else from her past may be on the way back into her life — and that she stands in danger of losing more than just her heart.
Featuring two fascinating characters from her acclaimed bestseller Brown-Eyed Girl, Mariah Stewart delivers a page-turner of passion and suspense.

Although this book has a "Pub. Date: 11/16/2010," it is an old book. I've read so many of Mariah Stewart's books that I didn't realize I had already read it until after I bought it. The book is good but I don't understand why there was not any mention of it being reissued. It makes me not want to buy any more Nookbooks. Very disappointed.

I'm very funny when it comes to this author. I either love them or not. This was one that I really liked. I would recommend this book to anyone. Loved the fact that they didn't meet and found themselves madly in love. There is history with the characters. Very believable.

Genevieve 'Genna' Snow had a rough childhood. Until age eight she lived with her parents and attended a religious camp called Shepherd's Way with Brother Michael. When Brother Michael tried to rape her, she fought him off and ran! Patsy Wheeler found her cowering on the front porch the next day. After the trial. her parents abandoned her and Patsy became her foster mother.

Genna Snow became an intrepid FBI agent that specialized in child crimes, especially kidnaping and pornography. Since Genna knew the area surrounding Bricker's Lake and the Amish community, her boss sent her to spend time at Patsy's house by the lake. She was to observe the Frick Farm. Drugs had entered the young Amish. It did not take long to solve.

John Mancini was also FBI and Genna's former lover. After a tough case, which involved entering the mind of a killer, he disappeared. He told no one (not even Genna, his live-in fiancée or family) where he went or why. He needed time (6 months) to straighten out his corrupted thinking patterns. When he returned to duty and he set out to win Genna back, no matter what it took.

John had a new case about several women who had disappeared without a trace from various parts of the country. Genna was busy with her long lost sister, Crystal, who appeared back in her life to heal old wounds and shed the hurts of their childhoods. But someone from Genna's past was coming back for her. She was numbered to be the last woman on the kidnapper's list. Only John could save her.

***** A heart stopper! The story wraps a lethal hold onto the reader, never to let go! Highly recommended reading here!*****

Near Bricker¿s Lake, Pennsylvania, nine-year old Genna Snow attends the Shepherd¿s Way camp run by Brother Michael. She gets in trouble for sneaking wild flowers to her ailing sister. Michael tries to punish her by sexually abusing the child, but Genna escapes. Schoolteacher Patsy Wheeler finds the battered girl and obtains help. All hell breaks loose and soon authorities learn that Michael abused more children.

In spite of her parents¿ condemnation, with the loving help of Patsy, Genna recovers and becomes an expert on abuse for the FBI. While Genna returns to the Amish country on a drug laundering case, her former boyfriend, Agent John Mancini, works what appears to be a serial killer case. John loves Genna, but when the Woods investigation got inside his gut, instead of turning to his beloved, he fled to cleanse his soul by himself. He feared destroying Genna, but now he wants her back permanently. She loves John, but believes he will just leave again. As his serial killer case seems to somehow tie back to Genna, he realizes he must keep her and Patsy safe not because of duty but because of love.

Highly talented Mariah Stewart provides her audience with a taut romantic suspense thriller that will provide the awesome author with new readers. The serial killer angle fits quite well with the elements of romantic suspense, as ultimately Genna is a target with John willing to die to keep her out of harm¿s way. The fast-paced story line is filled with action from page one with only romantic interludes to give the audience an occasional breather. Ms. Stewart provides her fans with another winner.
