I received this book from Book Sneeze a little after the New Year began. Its devotional format is very helpful and is useful when reading through the book. Every month has a different theme and the testimonies and stories show the hearts of the people who serve the Lord. The fact that every story has a different author makes the book feel even more personal. It draws attention to the work missionaries do around the world, and is thus an encouragement to every reader. At the end of the book there is a section about the International Mission Board and about Beth Moore's Living Proof Ministries. The heart of the people who serve the Lord with their lives is seen all through the book. I recommend this book as it is a daily encouragement to everyone who wants to start the day with a genuine decision to do better in their faith walk.

I received a copy of Voices of the Faithful: Inspiring Stories of Courage from Christians Serving Around the World. This devotional book includes comments by Beth Moore at the beginning of each month. What I have appreciated most about reading the daily entries is that it has helped me to have a more global perspective of how God is working through His people. However, based on the title and back cover description, I was expecting all of the entries to be inspirational accounts of extreme sacrifice. I was hoping for something along the lines of the accounts in Hebrews 11. Most of the stories, all written by different missionaries, are everyday accounts of their work with the people they are serving. Aside from this, I appreciate the prayers at the end of each day which afford the opportunity to pray specifically for missionaries serving around the world and for the hearts of the people they are trying to reach.

I liked this devotional book in that it was different than a lot of others I have read. The year was broken down in months and in each month you studied a different subject through the testimonies of missionaries serving all over the world. Some of the subjects included God's Character, God's Grace, Persecution, Prayer, and God's Word. Another variation is that every devotional would start with some Scripture pertaining to the lesson, and ending with a sample prayer. Those aspects really helped draw me in and helped me get the most possible out of the devotional. The book has 366 true accounts of believers from all around the world, a man in Bolivia, a woman in China, a couple in Asia. Each month starts of with an introduction by Beth Moore that helps prepare your heart for what you are about to learn. This is a perfect book, if your looking for a new devotional for the new 2011, a gift for a coworker, parent, sibling, or friends. I received this book from Book Sneeze for free in exchange for a review on my blog and a consumer website.

This is such a neat book! Having traveled a bit, it was really neat to have so many stories from missionaries around the world. I especially enjoyed the fact that there were a variety of writing styles. That said, as with any compilation type book, there were often stories that I either didn't relate to or wasn't interested in, but overall this was a really great book. I also didn't use it as a devotional and instead read it more the way you'd read a 'Chicken Soup' book. It would be a really great gift book as part of a basket of items for someone who was sick, immobile, had to sit in waiting rooms for long periods of time, etc... or just as good for a mom who needed something to read while waiting to pick her kids up at school, and other shorter waits.

How fortunate is the average American citizen? When reading through the pages of Beth Moore's book, "Voices of the Faithful" one realizes how much one has, and how little others have, and yet how thankful they can be for small things, that we would take for granted, a simple smile, act of service, or prayer can change their life. Beth Moore provides an excellent devotional, starting out by an introduction in each chapter followed by many different "Voices" with a variety of backgrounds that really ends up showcasing the miracles that happen every day, throughout the eyes of missionaries all over the world, showing the faithfulness of those in other places around the globe. She opens the book up with a humorous but very detailed image of her young years and her ideas about missionaries while growing up in America. It is a beautiful book, the pages are filled with all sorts of inspiring pages. It puts things in perspective for myself on how much I have, and yet how much I want, things that don't even matter. It makes you want to adjust who you are as a person, without just making you feel guilty and hollow like so many books of this nature. It is inspiring, energizing. It makes you want to live. Miracles still happen every day, and somehow many think they don't exist. As illustrated in this book they do, and they are taking the globe by surprise every day! It is a wonderful read, I'd definitely recommend it.

Voices of the Faithful is a 365 day devotional book with different subject topics each month such as God's word, prayer, compassion & witnessing. Each month has a separate topic, and Beth provides an AMAZING intro to each month. However, the single page daily devotionals are stories from missionaries around the world. This was the first book I had read from Beth Moore, and I wasn't sure it would live up to all the hoopla I have heard. both good & bad. Voices of the Faithful proved to be both good & bad - The inspiration I received from each of the monthly intros from Beth Moore made the book worthy of a 5 star review. Unfortunately I can't say I loved the daily devotions. As the daily devotions are from missionaries in different locations around the world, I had a hard time putting myself in their shoes. I would prefer to have read more "real life" stories that I could better apply to my everyday life. I would recommend this book, however I'd make sure the reader knew the daily devotions are from missionaries and not Beth. I will definitely be looking into some of Beth Moore's other books. NOTICE: I received this book free from the publisher through the a book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own

This Devotional is quite enjoyable because it reminds me of reading inspirational blogs. The reason? Every day's devotional is a story from one of the international missionaries who serve God in remote locations, sometimes even endangering their own lives in order to proclaim His Word and share the Good News with those who still live in the dark. Taking into account that I have friends all over the world (with exception of Australia, I guess) and many of my friends are missionaries (whether serving here in Ukraine or elsewhere), reading stories like that helps to achieve several goals: It shows that all the prayers for the missionaries are not in vain - God does work in the lives of people in mighty ways. The stories are encouraging because when you think of what people go through to share the Good News, you start to value the freedom and the simple joys of being able to go to Church on Sunday and not be afraid to be attacked or something. It shows that God is the same everywhere and He loves all people, not depending on race, skin color, language, or country of origin. All in all, I love the simple style of it: a verse of the day, a personal story from one of the missionaries, and a short prayer in the end.

Here is your ticket to other worlds: a gateway to experience foreign lands and unfamiliar cultures--all during your daily quiet time. More than a one-year devotional, Voices of the Faithful is a unique travel book, one that will affect how you see the world and look at people. A monthly theme connects the daily readings, which contain a missions-related story, a relevant Scripture passage, and a guide for prayer and reflection. This is a much-needed compilation today. Stories of God's work in the mission field are abundant, but as storytellers, most missionaries don't know where to begin (or end). So they send home unbearably long reports that go unread, or none at all. This devotional sifts through the stories so they don't overwhelm, presents them in focused bite-size pieces that enable readers to latch on to a name, country, or event. Just enough to take away and share with others, or ding a bell at the next temptation to complain about bad customer service. Voices of the Faithful is well-written, with a good variety of stories, and beautifully designed. Hopefully it will be published in a more handy size. Voices of the Faithful challenges Christians to respond to God's call to make His name known to all the nations: whether by going, sending, supporting financially, or praying for those in the field. It is a good supplement to daily Bible study. The stories can also be used as teaching illustrations for small groups or sermons. Many thanks to the folks at Thomas Nelson for publishing this book, and for giving me a copy.

A very nice devotional book, a little different from the average daily devotional guides. The collection of missionaries' stories from around the world are organized as daily devotions into monthly topics such as God's Character, Prayer, Contentment, Spiritual Warfare. Each month begins with an introduction of the theme by Beth Moore. I've always enjoyed Beth Moore's insights and personable style. I would've liked to read more about the experiences of the missionaries as each day is only one page short. But being that it's a daily devotion, the format does not allow it to be longer. Thomas Nelson provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for this review. Opinions are entirely my own

Voices of the Faithful is a daily devotional written by missionaries serving around the world. It is organized by different topics for each month and each entry is written by a different missionary. I found this to be a great daily devotional. The readings are thoughtful and just the right length. I did notice that some of the writers did not include their names, I'm assuming for fear of the governments where they are serving. Overall, I would recommend this book to someone who wants to supplement their daily devotional or someone who is short on time. I think this book is great for someone who is missions-minded. It will also ignite an interest in missions for those who do not know much about it. *Disclosure: I received this book for free from Thomas Nelson Publishers in exchange for a review. I was not required to write a positive review of this book

A village woman dreams she would find a man by the river who would tell her of God-on the day, and at the moment a missionary happened to be walking there. In another part of the world, a missionary needed new tires for his van, but before he could get them, the vehicle was stolen. A short time later it was recovered, replete with new tires, a radio, and a backseat. Voices of the Faithful, a compilation by Kim P. Davis of miracles, testimonies, joys, and sorrows brings the reader into communion with the heart of God as lived out through missionaries from around the world. It is a glimpse into the lives of ordinary people who are willing to pay the price of obedience and go where God leads. This daily devotional is arranged around monthly themes such as character, prayer, contentment, etc. Beth Moore introduces each month's theme, but the daily devotions are from the hearts of missionaries scattered from the Pacific Rim to the jungles of Africa. Although there are many devotionals available, this one has the added benefit of allowing us to become intimate with the people who are willing to share God's heart in difficult and unfamiliar places. Perhaps this encounter will trigger a response to commit to one of them in prayer, correspondence, or support, thereby becoming a co-worker from the comfort of our couch.

Like anything by Beth Moore, this book is nothing but inspiring. Her collaboration with missionaries who are truly living out the life that God intended for them is one to strengthen, build up, comfort, and stir the soul. I love the day to day account told in the words of the saints on earth today of how God is continuing to be faithful in the promises he has made throughout His Word. The tales vary from all lands, all situations, and all walks of life, proving that God truly is the God of all. Voices of the Faithful with Beth Moore is a book of daily devotions. Each of the daily devotions is written by a missionary serving in different parts of the world. From the forward..."Their testimonies are as diverse as their backgrounds and personalities as well as the places they serve...they all have one thing in common: a deep, abiding love for our lord Jesus Christ.." I really love this book. When I first received this book I quickly flipped to a random page and was immediately uplifted by the message. It was inspiring and so very special in that the testimony was personal and helpful. It was like having a dear friend offer me gentle words of encouragement and perspective. The very simple fact the the testimonies are written by missionaries for Christ working for the Kingdom of God from around the world lends the daily devotions special meaning. It has inspired me and led me in my personal journey. These are voices not so different from my own...dealing with the same trials and questions that I often have each day. Every penny of the author's profit goes to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions for the effort abroad. So not only will you be fed spiritually by this book but you can also feel good that you are personally helping a cause in Christ. Anyone looking for a daily devotion for the new year will not be disappointed. Voices of the Faithful is an inspiring devotional book compiled by Kim Davis, with Beth Moore! Each day you'll be taken on a new adventure by a missionary or someone else who has put their lives on the line for God. These daily stories are inspirational and ever so encouraging! It is always fun and interesting to hear stories from Christians serving God in other corners of the world, and I highly recommend this daily devotional. It is great to encourage yourself, or would also make a wonderful gift! Following God is worth it all ~ and you will be greatly encouraged by this new book!

Voices of the Faithful - By Beth Moore This is a book for those with a burden for missions and for those of us who want to know more. Before I read this book I knew what missions are, grew up in a church where there were frequent visits from various missionaries with pictures and stories about their efforts in foreign lands. I prayed for them, I paid attention when they talked, but still I didn't feel a connection with their burden. This book has definitly changed that for me. The book is a daily devotional with stories from various missionaries around the world. Each story is unique and opened my eyes to a whole different world of "problems" and heartache. I greatly admire those who serve and who are couragous and wonderful and have Gods guiding hand and protection in their service abroad. Each month has an introduction by Beth Moore and I love her introductions as much as the stories. Her words are encouraging, touching and inspiring. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to grow and strengthen their understanding of missions and also to appreciate all we have been blessed with.

A 366-day devotional with inspiring stories from the front lines of faith. "A willingness to go is all they have in common," says Beth Moore, speaking of her friends on the front lines who are spreading the gospel around the world and with whom she collaborated to create this book. This brilliant, 366-day devotional features incredible stories of God's faithfulness in the face of uncertainty and danger, written by hundreds of missionaries worldwide. Beth Moore compiles this set of short inspirational readings (one for every day). Each reading is one page. The objective is that you read the short essay, all of which are based on Bible verses, and contemplate the teaching throughout the day. The essays are arranged by subject. Each month has a different theme. February - the word of God. March - prayer. Etc. Each month's essays are preceded by comments by Beth Moore. Some of the essays are very inspiring. It takes a couple of minutes to do the daily reading, but one can contemplate it during your daily commute or throughout the entire day. Some of these messages are that good.

From the moment I saw Voices of the Faithful: Inspiring Stories of Courage from Christians Serving Around the World, listed on the Booksneeze resource page, I knew it was one I wanted to review. It's a book that combines two things that I feel strongly about- Beth Moore's great writing and teaching, and stories of mission work around the world. I often get so caught up in my own life challenges and struggles that I forget to pray for those in other countries who are facing much bigger problems and outright persecution for their faith. So I need books like this to remind me! I really have been enjoying this book immensely and feel encouraged and inspired and motivated to pray every time I pick it up and read one of the entries. Voices of the Faithful is laid out in a daily devotional format, which is perfect for anyone with a busy schedule and not much time to read. Each month has a theme, with themes ranging from God's character to contentment to persecution to spiritual warfare to Christmas around the world (to name just a few). There is an introduction section for each month, with a few pages written by Beth Moore on the theme of the month. The daily entries themselves are written by nearly 300 missionaries who are serving around the world. Each day's devotion is introduced with a Bible scripture and closes with a short prayer. At the end of the book there are several sections that I found especially helpful, especially those about finding your voice, how to pray for international missionaries and people groups, and the role of individual churches in missions. If you or someone you love is interested in knowing more about international missions or want to hear first-hand accounts of how God is working around the world, this is a great book to consider. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book as part of the publisher's Booksneeze program, but was not compensated in any other way. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review and all opinions posted here are mine and mine alone.

The visually appealing, modern devotional book, Voices of the Faithful, by Beth Moore, published by Thomas Nelson publishers, contains one devotion for each day of the year- a total of 365 passages. Each particular devotional is an indepth study into one of twelve themes of God's character. This unique book is divided into 12 months, each month is dedicated to a particular theme, such as: prayer, God's Character, God's grace, persecution and even a timely theme of Christmas around the world, for the month of December. This original devotional is distinct from traditional devotionals in that it is presented for the modern reader and written by missionaries themselves- who personally endured the trials and expreiences they have written about. This is not simply a devotional of theology, but of direct first hand personal experience- hence the title, Voices of the Faithful. With its styled pages, each devotional is written by a Christian missionary in the face of trials and challanges. There is a second book in this series also available from Thoma Nelson. This book is sure to motivate and inspire the reader. As a blogger for booksneeze I am writing this review and the opinions expressed are my own.
