The title of this book had me from the beginning but when I read it to my grand babies it was completely adorable. Its a great lesson in learning about friendship and that materialistic things are not important. My grand babies love this book and I have read it several times since I first received the digital copy but I am now waiting for the hard copy and I would so recommend it to any adult that has or deals with children. The title of my review is due to the fact that for about an hour after I read the the book to me grand babies they ran around singing WAFFLIN PANCAKES. LOVED THIS BOOK. Thank You Cindy for writing such an awesome book.

This book is a fantastic story about friendship. Two friends come from different side "of the tracks" and purchase two hamsters (waffles and pancakes) that are friends too. One hamster goes to a home with everything a hamster could desire, yet the boy never plays with him. The other to one less fortunate, but the boy (owner) gives him lots of love and attention. A heartwarming tale of two boys, becoming friends, and a lesson in friendship!

I got this book for a special little boy in my life and I wasn't sorry. Not only did he love it, but I loved it too. The illustrations were excellent and the writing was superb. This book would be a great tool for any parent, teacher, or guardian to use to teach the children in their lives not only about how to properly care for a pet, but to also teach them the importance of friends and family over material possessions. I can't wait to see more work from this author.

No, it's not time for breakfast. Waffles and Pancakes are two hamsters. They're friends in the pet shop and are sold to two different boys on the same day. One goes home to a life of luxury, the other to an old box. When the boys, who are friends too, get together to play, the hamsters are reunited. It's then that both hamsters and boys learn valuable life lessons. Waffles and Pancakes is a delightful way to teach children about love and relationships. This colorful, beautifully illustrated book, speaks about the importance of love over possessions. It's not what you have in your life, it's who you have. Five Golden Acorns.

Waffles and Pancakes by CindySpringsteen is a great read for any child of any age, many adults could learn something from it as well. Waffles and Pancakes are two hamsters living in a pet store together whose lives diverge one day. They find themselves brought together again when their owners become friends at school and learn how different their lives have become. Together they, and their owners, learn that the most important thing in the world is to love and be loved.

Waffles and Pancakes is a sweet story about the value of friendship. It teaches children that friends and family bring true joy, not how much you have or what you have. It is a lesson we can all learn, no matter how young or old we are!

The story is a lesson in friendship, featuring two hamsters named Waffles and Pancakes. The hamsters live together at a pet store. One day, two little boys come in to purchase them. Danny's family doesn't have a lot of money for his new pet Waffles. Griffin, on the other hand, comes from a family that could afford to buy Pancakes all kinds of toys and a fancy cage for a house. The boys attend the same school and quickly become friends because of their mutual love for hamsters. Pancakes and Waffles are overjoyed to be reunited. But Waffles is embarrassed about his meager home and belongings. The two start chatting and realize that the amount of things you have do not compare to the importance of being loved and played with. Waffles may not have a big home and a lot of toys, but Danny plays with him every single day. Pancakes has all kinds of gadgets, but Griffin never takes him out to play. Even the boys realize the difference in how they treat their pets. So, Griffin makes a concentrated effort to spend more time with Pancakes. He even decides to share some of his hamster stuff with Danny, so that Waffles can have more in his home. This sweet story teaches children the important part of being friends - spending quality time together instead of comparing who has more toys. I remember as a child having a hard time when my parents wouldn't buy me all of the same toys that my friends had. I didn't realize it at the time, but I ended up with more valuable experiences. I think in today's society, we have become even more wrapped up with material things and need to be reminded of this lesson. Kids also simply enjoy the story. One of the children with whom I shared it was an 8 year-old girl. Her direct response after reading it was, "It was a little bit short, but I liked it." She is now to the point where she is finally enjoying longer stories. This story is short enough to also be enjoyed by preschool and kindergarten children. More stories involving Waffles and Pancakes are in the works. We look forward to reading them! I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

Waffles and Pancakes is a great book, it teaches life lessons of friendship and acceptance. It is about two hampsters that were bought at the same pet store by different owners on the same day. One has everything that a hampster could hope for and the other one ends up in an old box. Despite their difference they are close friends, the book is filled with colorful pictures and the writer writes in away that is appealling to kids and adults alike. My granddaughter loved it, she wanted me to read it again and again. I received this book as a gift from the author, and I can tell you it has been a joy to read. I recommend this book to all that is interested in teach the young values that will stay with them their whole lifetime. I am looking forward to seeing more from this author.

Great Read with a Great Lesson I was given a copy by the author in exchange for my honest review. Waffles and Pancakes is a great children's book for all ages. Waffles and Pancakes are hamsters that were bought by 2 different boys, on the same day, at the same pet store. Pancakes owner bought him a huge house filled with wheels and tunnels. Waffles owner could only afford a small box. The owners go to school together and decide to have a play date for the hamsters. When Waffles and Pancakes meet again, they find out that not only are their houses different, but their owners treat them different as well. Great message in the book: Money can't buy happiness or love, neither cost a thing. I read the book with my 5 year old son and 11 year old daughter and they both loved it. A great read with a great life lesson. Wonderfully written and illustrated. I can't wait for more adventures with these little hamsters.

Reviewed by Kristie I. for Readers Favorite "Waffles and Pancakes," written and illustrated by Cindy Springsteen, is a cute, little story about friendship and what is important in life. Pancakes and Waffles are two hamsters who live together at the pet shop. They are both bought on the same day and taken home by boys; however, they each have different homes from each other and live different lives. Griffin provided Pancakes with a beautiful home with everything a little hamster could want, but something important was missing: Griffin did not spend time playing with Pancakes. Danny took home Waffles and gave him a little box for a home, but every day after school they would play together. One day when the boys get together with their hamsters, Pancakes and Waffles, an important lesson is learned by all: it doesn't matter what you have, if you have love you will be happy. This is a great story to teach young children the importance of love and friendship. There is so much emphasis placed on things and having a lot of money in today's society, yet money cannot buy true and long lasting happiness as the characters in this book learn. Danny and Griffin are boys from different backgrounds, yet they find similarities in their lives and become friends. This book will teach children to look beyond material things and outer appearances in order to really see who a person is on the inside and discover that happiness stems from true friendship and love for one another instead of building up material items. The illustrations are very vibrant throughout and will catch the reader's attention as well. A well-written, to the point book that has just the perfect length for children's attention spans.
