1,200 miles. It should have been enough distance to stop Charley's mother from controlling her life. But, it wasn't. Even from so far away, she's managed to control the inheritance that Charley needs to start her bakery...and her life.
Saying "yes" to Matt's proposal was supposed to fix all of that. But, it didn't.
She was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now her future is falling apart in front of her. Matt isn't who she thought he was, and life isn't what she thought it would be.
It's the worst night of her life that brings her into Brennan's bar, but it's his kindness that convinces her to stay. Can he also convince her to wake up and fight for what's hers, or will she continue to live life on other people's terms?

This is the first book that I have read from Elle. I think she did a wonderful job. From the first word to the last word I couldn't put it down. this is a different genre then I am used to. But it was so worth it. Charlie, I thought she was very brave and such a strong character. She had went through a lot. Growing up in a house where your mom is controlling, and I mean in a not so good way. I should mention there was no abuse. I don't want you to think that is what I meant by her mom being controlling. In college she meets her best friend whom is also the sister of her boyfriend. A turn of event happen and Charlie is faced with a situation that even I think I wouldn't be able to handle. Brennan, I have to give him credit, not most men would do what he did for Charlie. A complete stranger. But I guess things happen in mysterious ways. But I am so happy he was there. I so recommend you check this book out.
