Waking the Watcher by Kim Loraine

My ultimate downfall,
And demise.
I'm shackled to a life I can't escape.
A life I never asked for.

Now, I'm trapped--soulless,
Burdened by a Watcher lurking within.
He wants out, he wants her.
But I can't let that happen,
Won't let that happen.

She's mine.

Somehow that doesn't matter.
I can't have what I crave.
What I want.
What I need.

As the Watcher fights me,
Battles for control,
I refuse to succumb.
It's a power I'll never relinquish.
I can't unleash what lies beneath,
Without paying the ultimate price,
And losing her in the end.

While I would say that I enjoyed this book, there were many times I wished there was more "story" happening and not as much descriptive sex. If you can look past that, you'll find the characters really trying figure a way out of their current situation. It's not about vampires feeding off unsuspecting humans nor fallen angels trying for redemption. It a story that is as basic as can be...being true to yourself and finding what you want. I would say try this book if you'd enjoy something different. It's not too long (190) pages and it's complete in itself although there are two more books in the series. You should read them in order.

A bit of a different take on vampire /human love, this book has passion, suspense, and mystery with a dash of religion

The Waking the Watcher is an extraordinary read! That can turn any non PNR into fan! I’ve never been one for PNR! Like it would give me a rash! That is how bad my aversion the subject was! Well that was until I read and audio listened to Waking the Watcher! I was immediately pulled into its vortex, its realm and was so drawn to the storyline. I didn't even get more than 3 hours sleep that night! You can say I was like a junkie needing its fix! So I devoured it, consumed it and plain old drooled all over this story! WOW!!! This erotic fantasy will have you dropping everything! For that one taste of its divine ecstasy and pleasure!! A hands down #oneclick!!! That can slay me any day!

This book has an interesting idea but it seemed rushed with not much character development. Immature writing. Couldn't finish.
