Represented by the behemoth Edge Models, anticipation concerning him soars. But as Danny fails to meet expectations, and as the unforgiving industry loses its appeal, Danny finds himself falling deeper into a subculture that only insiders know well enough not to envy.
Here, in the underworld of the male modeling industry, Danny meets Marina, esteemed socialite and fashion devotee. Though otherwise incompatible, each has a need the other can fulfill: Marina, a (walking) companion; Danny, an income.
Marina initially employs Danny to be her exercise partner. But as her libertine cravings overcome her she lures Danny further off the trails of Central Park, beyond the safety of his morals, and into a world he never imagined.

Walking Marina gives an "average" person a glimpse into the world of high fashion and male modeling...from the viewpoint of a young, struggling, up and coming male model, Danny Ward. Following Danny's life from before his entry into the modeling world (working in a steel mill in a depressed town in Indiana) to deep into the fast paced world of high fashion was a whirl-wind ride. Throughout the book, I felt like I was right next to Danny as he met trials and successes in life and career. I am an avid reader of all types of genres. Walking Marina fits right in with such books as "She's Come Undone" or "White Oleander". While reading it, you get so enmeshed with the main character that you want more, need more and feel as if you are experiencing the moments that he/she is experiencing. I could not put this book down and when it was done, I craved to know more about Danny and everyone else that came and went in his life throughout the book. Overall, a fantastic read and one that is added to my collection to be read again!
