Wanderer's Escape by Simon Goodson

An ancient starship. A young slave. Together they‘ll save the universe… or destroy it.

Jess has been a prisoner all his short life. On the day he’s ordered to clear the traps on a mothballed starship he realises he’s going to die a prisoner. The ship, and others like it, have already claimed hundreds of lives.

When the ship comes to life at his touch Jess snatches the chance to live and begins a frantic flight to freedom. But the Wanderer is no ordinary ship. After centuries lying dormant, Jess’s touch brings it back to consciousness. The Wanderer bonds with Jess, giving him incredible power… but at a higher cost than he could possibly imagine.

Jess finds himself loose in a brutal universe with the Empire, pirates, slavers and worse hunting him so they can control the Wanderer. Yet beyond those challenges waits a far greater danger that will threaten the entire universe if it isn’t challenged. Will Jess and the Wanderer be enough to defeat the threat?

“This novel is a brilliant example of the perfect sci-fi/space opera. Hard edged, but soft hearted, the bond between the ancient ship, Wanderer, and Jess is beautiful.” Cheryl Mackey, Author.

Will Jess and the Wanderer manage to stay free? And if they do, just where will their journey take them? Find out for yourself – buy Wanderer’s Escape today and follow Jess and the Wanderer on their incredible journey!

Praise for Wanderer’s Escape, the first in the five-book Wanderer’s Odyssey series…

“Reading this book, and the two sequels took me back to my teen years, reading Lucky Starr, Isaac Asimov and so many other great adventures.” Richard Bequette, Review.

“Just finished book two and I'm going to start book three tonight. This is turning out to be a great series.” Far left Texas, Review.

“...a rollicking adventure of freedom, friendship, betrayal, space battles, rescues, love, and growth.” graycat98, Review.

I really enjoyed this book! I just loved the plot and I've always loved sci-fi with that kind of ship. Though honestly I found a few of the characters to be incredibly annoying I could overlook it because I really like this book. And I guess they have room to grow, which I hope they do in the second book. The characters are just so naive. Its unusual. I get being ignorant because of their past but I would think their previous situation would have made them more jaded and wary and less trusting and open to accepting strangers into their midst. I found it odd that it took a few...incidents (no spoilers for u) for them to realize that they shouldn't be so gullible. Anyway other than that it was a really good book. There weren't very many editing mistakes that I remember. Even if there were mistakes they obviously weren't distracting enough to hinder my enjoyment of the story. I already bought the second book and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story and the characters develop.

I enjoyed the book and read it in one sitting. There were a few grammar issues and a few run on sentences. This could have been taken care of with better editing. The story itself was fun to follow and I have since purchased the next two installments. I wish links could be provided so that errors could be politely be addressed to help clear up editing errors

I really enjoyed this book. "Si-Fi" is not my normal cup of tea. Long ago I read Dandelion Wine by Ray Bradbury and surprisingly enjoyed it, also George Orwell's 1984. I have read others thatI did not enjoy. This is a book that I will remember and read again!

This bookvwas fiveb ro me dir free at one of my discussion groups. It was free so it sat for a month or so before it was cracked open. After the first few chapters it was read and well liked. It had a few errors in the editing but it was a GREAT read. Thank you for the thrills as the characters blossomed so did my respect for a well written first book. 5 STARS and I wish it could be 6!

2 stars This book is a fast read with a simple plot. Three slaves escape in a unique alien spaceship. Very little suspence, the main character is extremely naive, and connected to the miracle spaceship. The ship can change shape, color, heal any injury even when one of the secondary character loses both feet. I love reading SciFi and Fantasy novels but this story was just unbelievable, no drama, predictable occurrances and i was unable to relate to the characters. If you want a quick simple story to read than this is the book. But if you want a book that has great character development, drama, a good plot than this book does not meet the challenge. I won't be buying the sequels.

The story is solid as are the characters. Room for the characters to grow and expand. Book can be enjoyed as a stand alone. Some typos or sentence structure seemed a little off in some places. (Figure it's a cultural thing.) Enjoy your read.

Good story and plot. Needs better editing for grammar issues.

This was a easy to read story that had an engaging plot. I would agree with other reviewer's that this is more a young adult book, even though I enjoyed it. There were a number of grammatical errors throughout though. Although I had no great problems with this overall, I probably will not read the rest of the series.

Despite the grammatical and spelling errors, this is an enjoyable read, full of excitement. It pulls at your heart strings and shows the the courage of a young man, coming of age and dealing a taste of freedom he has never known prior, all at the same time.
