Wanting Sex Again: How to Rediscover Your Desire and Heal a Sexless Marriage by Laurie Watson

“I never want to have sex again.”

If you feel like sex just isn’t worth the effort, you’re not alone. Forty million American women are frustrated by their lack of sexual passion. They know something’s missing—and their husbands know it, too—but the emotional, physical, and mental obstacles to healthy desire can be a knot that seems too tangled to unravel.

Drawing on twenty years of clinical experience, Laurie Watson shows that it really is possible to restore the thrill of sex, using proven psychological methods and personal accounts from actual therapy sessions. Her strategies will:

•Offer a glimpse into the reality of other people’s bedrooms
•Address the sexual problems that can develop with life changes—from marriage to motherhood to menopause
•Uncover the hidden factors that impact desire—stress, cultural messages, emotional connection, chemical and hormonal challenges, physical appearance issues, and more
•Show how joyful, meaningful, satisfying sex can be yours again

Candid, practical, and much needed, this book can help you rediscover your sexual self or discover it for the first time. Instead of dreading bedtime, you can look forward to it again.

This book reads like one of my therapy sessions. I'm curious to know if others seriously understood what they were purchasing. The short description given before you decide to purchase is completly misrepresentive of the book. I purchased this book so I could overcome my fear of making love with my husband again. This book does not and did not help me, it was a total waste of money, infact not only do I think I deserve a refund, but I think the author, publishing company, someone should be paying us to read this misguided self-help book. I hope that the author chooses not to grace the bookshelves with a sequel!

Laurie Watson is an incredible writer. Her book is factual and interesting, and the cases that she uses gives a lot of insight into the problems that people face in marriage. I couldn't put the book down, and read through it in just 2 days. Even if you have no problems in your marriage, reading this will encourage you to cherish your own marriage. If you do have problems her no nonsense approach to solving problems will give you direction to work to solve any issues.

Laurie's writing tells personal stories of her clinical work. Unlike other works of literature in sex psychology, she writes with a very personal demeanor and not clinical at all. Her characters are interesting and the book is written in a way that could be personally attributed to myself. I would recommend this to anyone, with or without sexual intimacy problems.

This book is so helpful! The author makes the realities of marriage and sex understandable and she gives you hope that things can not only get better but be great. This book helped me understand the pursuer and distancer dance in marriages. There are great exercises at the end of each chapter. I like the subtitles for easy referencing and stopping points. I wish I had this book years ago and I wish more couples would read this early in their marriages.
