Overview

War & Peace, Vol. 2: The Peace Disc

Before he made a mint playing lovable tough guys in Hollywood, Ice Cube was once best known as the brazen frontman for gangsta rap progenitors N.W.A. On WAR & PEACE VOL. 2, the now affable Cube proves he hasn't lost his street cred thanks to tough, no sellout rhyme standards, or his street smarts, judging by some very shrewd collaborations with Dr. Dre, Mack 10, and others. Although his latest doesn't exactly hold up to its literary counterpart, Cube offers 14 hard-hittin' tracks full of "life ain't nothin' but bitches and money" tall tales that will boom in jeeps throughout the summer. Standout tracks include "Hello," which includes shots from ex-NWA brethren Dr. Dre and MC Ren (with taut, crisp production by Dre); the comical "You Ain't Gotta Lie (Ta Kick It)," featuring comedian Chris Rock; and the uplifting "Until We Rich," featuring Krayzie Bone. After all these years in the rap game, it's nice to know we can still count on Ice Cube to deliver that original gangsta flavor.

This is not Cube's best work, but is pretty good. The weakest track was the one with Krazie Bone. But the one w/Ren, took us back, way back. The one wit Chris Rock was funny as hell! Good album. Compared to that fool Siegal, this is a classic.

ice cube war & peace vol 2 is the greatest CD out right now and it really has what you want and has some tight lyrics that wake up spirits, this one is hell of worth it!

This cd should be used as a drink coaster. Week rhymes from a one time hardcore lyricist. Should continue to make movies. One hot song on the whole cd, the one with Krazie Bone.I wouldn't play this for a bunch of tone deaf gypsies with alzheimers.

finally there is a album that can contend with the chronic 2001. Ice Cube really is on fire and he will always live on. Ice Cube keep doing what your doing because it's working, live on Forever. Pick this CD up!

Go ahead and order another set of 12s for your ride, because if you have any taste in rap at all, you're going to play Vol. 2 so loud that it's going to blow out the speakers you have now.

If you don't buy another rap album this year...BUY THIS ONE. Cube hasn't lost his edge, as you might expect after all the time spent on movie sets. There's a lot of the old, some of the new, and all of it cool.

The only thing I regret is that he didn't drop this around Jan. 1, because if he had, he'd collect several rap Grammys.

The title says it all. Buy it. Buy it now.
