Warbirds is a story about the experiences of fighter pilots who fought in WWII, and how the war affected their lives, and the lives of the women they loved. The book follows the combat and life experiences of three pilots, An American, a German, and an Englishman, as they grow from their initial enthusiasm, to experienced combat veterans, and finally to men who are trying to stay alive until the war ends. The story follows the men through the Battle of Britain, where they are on opposite sides, to the air battles of the Luftwaffe on the eastern front, and finally to the devastation at the end of the war.

About the Author

Jeff Slader has a lifelong interest in airplanes, especially as they were used in WWII. As a young man, he entered the Air Force pilot training program, but was eliminated. He never forgot the training and experiences he had, and after a lifetime reading WWII history, he decided to write this book. he has also written an action/adventure novel, "The Faithful Tin Soldier", set in nineteenth century London and India.
