Warhammer 40K RPG: Deathwatch Core Rulebook by Ross Watson

Deathwatch is a roleplaying game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where you take on the role of a member of the Adeptus Astartes - the devout, bio-engineered super-soldiers also known as Space Marines. Only the most exceptional candidates from the fighting forces of the Adeptus Astartes are invited to join the Deathwatch, and take on a new oath to safeguard the Imperium from the darkest of threats.
United in this newly forged brotherhood, all Deathwatch Marines must learn to put aside their differences and work together to succeed in the most extraordinary operations - whether facing the threat of total annihilation when confronted by implacable alien foes, or fighting against the foul daemon menace that crawls forth hungrily from beyond the Warp.
Deathwatch offers a brand-new roleplaying experience by focusing on elite, special-missions style action at the furthest fringes of Imperial space, involving some of the greatest heroes and deadliest opponents the Warhammer 40,000 universe has to offer!

This book is full of so much back history it staggers my mind. After having a chance with a meet and greet with some of the developing team, I learned a few things: 1) Nearly every bit of lore in this book is offical warhammer 40,000 universe canon. 2) This book easily integrates with other core games from Fantasy Flight Games, to include Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader. 3) Even if you dont play the game but you are a collector this is a good book to pick up just for the history. 4) For you gamers this is not some simple pen and paper game (though you could do it), this is a game for serious role and roll playing. The tactics involved for combat are amazingly detailed and everyone is involved. This is a good book to have all around, even if you have never played a roll playing games before and always wondered...stop wondering this is a good start. No silly elves and wizards, thus, thy and forsooth! This is nitty, gritty, dark and dangerous combat.
