*****I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book***** Wow, I always wanted to get Dino DeLuca pov and was waiting patiently for it. It's a lot I would like to say but I don't want to give any plot points away: therefore, this review isn't going to go into anymore than this. The story is so dark, intense, emotional and let's not omit disturbing , yet I adore this author writing style. Dino DeLuca endured so much for the sake of his siblings and remained strong, cautious and open-minded where the Outfit families was concern. I just loved Karen, she was tendered hearted, loving and kind toward Dino without any questions or complaints. The characters were well written and their actions are solid and unique. I was so hooked on this book that I didn't wanted to be disturbed by anyone until I completed it. This book is a MUST read!! I'm looking forward to reading the second one in this series. >Deserves more than 5 stars

What is the acronym for Waste of Worth? W.O.W, of course, and that’s exactly how I felt right from page 1 to its soul wrenching cliffhanger ending, my fellow mafia romance book-loving friends. I mean that more as a breathy, gently whispered as it falls from my lips, exclamatory “Wow!”, btw. Just as the storyline slowly unraveled and revealed Dino DeLuca’s complex, misunderstood character and his “tried to stay away, but I just can’t” relationship with Karen, the sweet/kind/patient heroine, I was kept completely captivated and didn’t want this story to end. I don’t have enough words to express how thrilled I am this author chose to defy the odds/take the risk and give us Dino’s deep, dark secrets/full story. Fans of The Chicago War series are surely nodding their heads in agreement. Love him or hate him, Dino’s the made man that masterminded the arranged marriage of Damien (aka Ghost) and Lily in Deathless and Divided, book 1 - The Chicago War. For that reason alone, he earned a perpetual soft spot in my mafioso romance book-loving heart. What a surprise to learn this alpha, seemingly cold, heartless, tortured soul mobster is packing more than just steel beneath his Armani jacket. He’s got a very abused, neglected, soft heart beating there, as well. Thanks to Karen, who offers herself and her heart to Dino, bringing sunshine to his dark shadowy world, for the first time in a long time Dino dares to dream of finding some desperately needed peace and happiness of his own. Wrestling with mob commitments and consequences to every move he makes, Dino doesn’t know how to deal with his secret relationship with Karen. What he does know is he never wants to see her used as a pawn in order to get to him. He’s been there before and is determined never to repeat that painful history. It doesn’t help when people begin gunning for him from all sides, as well. Haven’t read that series yet? Well, it’s never too late to fix that problem, folks. Each of the four books in The Chicago War earned well deserved, five star ratings from this reviewer, and I am extremely stingy in handing those out. This novella storyline takes place prior to Book 1, Deathless and Divided. Yeah, we get to know Dino “after the fact”, but somehow it seemed to work out even better this way. Thank you so much, Bethany-Kris, for bringing Dino back to us. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in part two, Worth of Waste. No doubt it will feature this main couple dealing with the aftermath of the double the drama bombshell conclusion of the first part. It will definitely be well worth the wait, folks. Title: Waste of Worth, Series: DeLuca Duet, Part 1, Author: Bethany-Kris, Pages: 254, not a stand-alone, ends in a cliffhanger, need to read both parts, mafia romance, mob violence, sweet/patient heroine, alpha tough guy hero who has a tragic past, a few smexy scenes with lusty language, OTT evil family villain, Part 1 storyline takes place before book 1 of The Chicago War but this can be considered an independent series. The Chicago War: The Complete Series is now available as one book. DeLuca Duet: Book 1 - Waste of Worth, 1/9/17, Pages: 254 Book 2 - Worth of Waste, 2/2/6/17, Pages: 240 (This review is based on advanced reader copy provided via the author in exchange for an unbiased, fair review. 4 "Wasted" Stars Having read and loved The Chicago War series, I was so curious about how this story would play out. His story was central in that series yet he was always on the periphery. And after it wrapped up with book 4, I assumed I knew everything there was to know about Dino. How wrong I was. This is Dino and Karen's story from the very beginning and I am hooked. Finally a grown adult, Dino is the head of his family but yet still has to follow the direction of The Family. Mob life isn't easy and that's been proven over and over to Dino. Tasked with watching over his two younger siblings and his job as Capo, he has a load on his shoulders and it only gets worse when his uncle proves he still as bad as he was when Dino was younger. And just when he thinks he has his life planned out, a curve ball of massive proportions gets thrown his way. Karen has no connection to the mob and Dino wants to keep it that way. But he is drawn to her and can't seem to stay away. His life is dangerous though and he doesn't want to add any problems to hers. But best laid plans always seem to go awry. With mounting pressure on all sides, Dino once again has to choose to keep something for himself or risk losing it all. I need book 2 asap! The build up of this story left me flipping pages and wanting more. It can be read as a standalone but if you've read The Chicago Wars series, you'll see some of your beloved characters again from a different angle giving a more fuller picture of what you already thought you knew. And with her ability to paint a vivid picture of the mafia, Bethany-Kris adds another winner to her long line of fantastic romances.
