Each entry opens with a set of two true or false questions, encouraging readers to test their knowledge before reading. The answers to these questions appear in the back of the book, alongside a review of the whole volume's content and comprehension questions. The conversational writing and engaging format encourage active learning. Colorful photos, historical time lines, and detailed diagrams put the material in context. Plenty of white space, with text boxes overlaid on pictures, keeps the text legible. "The Big Truth" sections present pros and cons or highlight innovations, such as the proposed IceLink connecting Iceland's geothermal energy sources to the United Kingdom. VERDICT Enticing visuals and a forward-thinking perspective make this series an excellent choice for library collections.
