Water Under The Bridge: A Chilling Psychological Thriller (The Water Trilogy, #1) by Britney King

In the tradition of Gone Girl and Behind Closed Doors comes a gripping, twisting, furiously clever read that demands your attention, and keeps you guessing until the very end. For fans of the anti-heroine and stories told in unorthodox ways, Water Under The Bridge delivers us the perfect dark and provocative villain.

As a woman who feels her clock ticking every single moment of the day, former bad girl Kate Anderson is desperate to reinvent herself. So when she sees a handsome stranger walking toward her, she feels it in her bones, there's no time like the present. He's the one.

Kate vows to do whatever it takes to have what she wants, even if that something is becoming someone else. Now, ten pounds thinner, armed with a new name, and a plan, she's this close to living the perfect life she's created in her mind.

But Kate has secrets.

And too bad for her, that handsome stranger has a few of his own.

With twists and turns you won't see coming, Water Under The Bridge examines the pressure that many women feel to "have it all" and introduces a protagonist whose hard edges and cutthroat ambition will leave you questioning your judgment and straddling the line between what's right and wrong.

Enjoy dark fiction? Are you a fan of stories told in unique ways? If so, you'll love Britney King's bestselling psychological thrillers. Get to know Jude and Kate, unreliable narrators at best, intense, and, in your face at worst. Water Under The Bridge is the first book in The Water Trilogy. Available in digital and print.

DEAD IN THE WATER (Book Two) and COME HELL OR HIGH WATER (Book Three) are now available.

About the Author

Britney King writes psychological, domestic, and romantic thrillers set in suburbia. She is currently writing three series and several standalone novels.

The Bedrock series (psychological/domestic/romantic thriller) features an unlikely heroine who should have known better. Turns out, she didn't. Thus she finds herself tangled in a messy, dangerous, forbidden love story and face-to-face with a madman hell-bent on revenge. The series has been compared to Fatal Attraction, Single White Female, and Basic Instinct.

The Water Trilogy (psychological/domestic/romantic thriller) follows the shady love story of an unconventional married couple-- he's an assassin--she kills for fun. It has been compared to a crazier version of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Also, the hit series Dexter.

Around The Bend, is a heart-pounding standalone (romantic suspense/domestic/psychological thriller), which traces the journey of a well-to-do suburban housewife, and her life as it unravels, thanks to the secrets she keeps. If she were the only one with things she wanted to keep hidden, then maybe it wouldn't have turned out so bad. But she wasn't.

The With You series (romantic suspense/contemporary romance) is a coming of age, friends to lovers, second chance (plus a few) love story about unlikely friends who travel the world; trying to find themselves, together and apart. It has been compared to Love, Rosie.

Britney lives in Austin, Texas with her husband, children, two dogs, one ridiculous cat, and a partridge in a pear tree.

This was such a different read. I couldn’t put it down.

So many books nowadays adhere to a predictable formula, but not this one! I could not wait to find out more about the characters. I only put this book down for pesky details such as my job. If you like T.E. Woods' Justice novels, or Alexandra Sokoloffs Huntress/FBI series, then this is going to be your new favorite author!

I wondered why in the world would an author let me read her book for free? After the first few lines I understood. Instant fan. This book has such a unique and compelling voice which I thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to the next.

I think Water Under The Bridge may just be Britney King's best work to date. Water Under The Bridge is written from dual points of view (Jude and Kate) but it's also written in a style that I haven't read much, if ever, where Jude and Kate go back and re-tell what happened as they recall it and as if they are speaking to the other. Britney once again does a great job of making you feel like you know the characters and like you are right there with them. She kept me very engrossed in Jude and Kate's story and let me tell you, the last 20% will keep you up way past your bed time because you won't be able to put it down, as you MUST know what happens next! I would highly recommend this book to anybody who is looking for a great read or "something different" from their normal or needs some page turning excitement in their life. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I enjoyed reading this book. Sometimes I forget the characters I'm reading about if I don't get back to a book right away. But I definitely couldn't forget these two! Keep writing, Britney!

I had a tough time with this book. It was a slow starter for me but the story was well written. I really didn't care for the charachters. Maybe I prefer not to dwell on the fact that there are actually people like this in the world. They are disturbing to say the least. If you are enthralled with the idea of serial killers and wish you could get into their heads you might love this book.

Water Under the Bridge: A Chilling Psychological Thriller (The Water Trilogy Book 1) Britney King This is my first foray into Ms. Kings writing. I must say, I cannot wait to get my hands on book two. This is a dark and twisted love story. One unlike most others that are out there. Kate and Jude are fantastic in that they are not your normal romantic couple. Kate is very self-aware and yet when Jude enter her life, she starts to feel that she’s losing herself to gain what she thinks she should want to have. Jude thinks he has all the answers while realizing that to get what he really wants he may have to admit to knowing nothing at all. He thinks he has Kate figured out until she starts to surprise him, again and again. I absolutely enjoyed how well the story was developed and the direction the characters were taken in. I loved that Kate and Jude are not your typical suburban couple. I seriously cannot wait to see where these characters go in Dead in the Water (The Water Trilogy #2).

Sorry, i didn't find it compelling at all. The story never grabbed my attention. Switching viewpoints did add the creep factor in, but I just couldn't get hooked.

How in the world did this get published? More than confusing, it was just plain boring. I hate giving low ratings because the authors spend time and effort into writting. But********this is not worth time and $$$$$. Sorry

The writing style was unique and it took me a few chapters to warm up to it, but then it took off like a top fuel dragster. Couldn't put it down then. I highly recommend!
