A baby-boomer's chronicle of the challenges and rewards of caring for her elder parents.
We 3 is a collection of stories - sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious, always thoughtful, informative and authentic - written for many of you who have, or will take care of your aging family member.
In 1996, at the age of seventy, my father fell off a ladder. After surgery he had a plate and sixteen screws holding his left foot together. He received orders from his physician for "no weight bearing for three months." This posed more than a little problem because he was my mother's caregiver. Mother has a plethora of health issues that brought their dream of travel in a motor home during retirement to a grinding halt in my home town.
During dad's recover he experienced a heart attack, which led to triple by-pass surgery.
It was unthinkable that mother could care for dad.
In April of 1996, 'We 3' purchased a home and moved in together. This is our story.
