Book 5 in the Beach Reading Series

When San Francisco's cattiest television personality Rosa Rivera sponsors a gay wedding contest, Tim Snow's boyfriend begins pressuring him to get hitched. Life for his friends in the Castro becomes comic and chaotic as the lavish ceremony is promised to be held at the restaurant where Tim works. Meanwhile, his beloved Aunt Ruth has been harboring a homeless woman. Is she protecting her nephew from some family secret? As the city's golden boys walk about shirtless in dapper collar n' cuffs with the annual Gay Pride Parade, the drama and the laughs intensify. Will Rosa's meltdown bring the parade to a standstill? Who is being sent to a ritzy detox center? Only San Francisco Chronicle best-selling author Mark Abramson could tell such a captivating story with shares of both delight and intrigue.

Meet the Author

Born and raised a Minnesota farm-boy, Mark Abramson has lived in San Francisco so long he is now a native. Not only did he survive the worst of the AIDS years in California, but also the Reagan era AND both Bush administrations. He is thrilled that the Beach Reading series, his first foray into fiction, has been so successful and he is grateful to the loyal fans of Tim, Aunt Ruth, Artie and the rest of the gang. For Mark, it’s easier to make up stories about the Castro because no one would believe all of the true ones!

Despite the black cloud known as Proposition 8, many folks in the Castro are excited about upcoming weddings, including that of Aunt Ruth and her boyfriend Sam. The marriage madness cranks up when the owners of the Arts restaurant, where Ruth works part-time as a bartender, learn that local overbearing TV personality Rosa Rivera wants to sponsor a gay wedding contest there, with the winner to receive a televised ceremony in the restaurant, plus a free honeymoon. Ruth's nephew Tim, a waiter at the restaurant, is pressured by his partner Nick to consider entering the contest, while Tim's psychic dreams bring up some disturbing memories of his abusive mother, whom he hasn't seen in years. Fifth in the "Beach Reading" series of well-written light mysteries, this one is especially interesting in that it provides considerable background information on Tim's childhood, and it delightfully illustrates the "extended family" of Tim and Ruth's friends, co-workers and neighbors, who band together to teach someone a rather amusing lesson. Don't miss it ... five stars out of five! - Bob Lind, Echo Magazine

'Wedding Season' is my least favorite of the Beach Reading series. I miss the stubble upon dead bodies, life threatening danger, and mystery I'm used to in the previous four fantastic books. For me, this is a more light-hearted, less serious, fun kind of drama read. Both Tim and his Aunt Ruth struggle with getting married. Aunt Ruth is uncomfortable being the lady of the house, and Tim is not ready to be committed to one man for the rest of his life. Artie is going overboard when he finds out that the newest TV personality Rosa Rivera is doing a show in their restaurant Art's. She's doing a series on weddings and this book is full of her "I'm a celebrity" misadventures as she uses her put-on Italian to put on a show that is over the top and all about her. The biggest question is will Tim and his boyfriend tie the knot?
