Can a 300 year old witch find happiness and true love with a 35 year old mortal who thinks she's at best eccentric and maybe truly crazy? Alisande Wyrrd must take a lover in order to replenish her fading magic but instead casts a wedding spell on Sebastian Wainwright, the super serious minded, skeptical, logical head of Wainwright Security. This is a forever spell and will only work if Wainwright truly loves her and believes in her as a true witch. Will they work things out before the spell causes Sebastian to forever forget the witch and Ali is forced to live with a broken heart?

I felt this book didn't move along very well - and that some of the conversation was awkward - it just didn't flow. I liked the premise of the book - that an immortal could fall in love with a human and overcome obstacles so that they could be together, but Sebastian's reactions to her being a witch seemed too awkward. Disappointing.

Alisande Wyrrd has to find a man, short-term or long-term she needs one to restore her power. She decides to do the research and find candidates, so she finds Sebastian Wainwright, thinking that he will do. When she breaks into his offices she finds herself very attracted, he's taken aback by her and wants to know more. The relationship takes off from there, the biggest stumbling block is his disbelief in her powers which are drained from not being in a relationship for too long. It's fun, light stuff but nothing spectacular, the two characters are quite interesting and I look forward to reading more in this universe.

The bones of this story were good, but it just wasn't fleshed out right. The heroine's a 300-year-old witch who needs a mate to rejuvenate her powers. The hero's CEO of a security company, deeply grounded in logic and rationality. It could have been really good, and I wish I could put my finger on why it isn't. The characters didn't grab me, the conflicts just didn't seem to play out. Reminds me of Linda Howard's books, in the way I feel like I should love the stories, but I don't. Could be the problem's the same: the author's telling me what the characters are feeling rather than showing me.

Like another reader, I can't believe the same author wrote the Highlander books. No surprises, very boring in parts. I hope the rest of the series is better since I already purchased them. Ljb

If one were to compare this series with her highlander you would think that two completely different authors wrote the books.
