Welcome Home, Jellybean by Marlene Fanta Shyer

Gerri pushed the EMERGENCY button on the elevator. When the siren went off, she began to jump and scream...If this was a sample of what life with my sister was going to be like, we were probably making a monster mistake...

Neil Oxley doesn't really know his older sister at all, and neither do his parents - because the only place that Gerri has ever lived is an institution. But for now their mother thinks that she is ready to come home.

None of them truly understands what it will be like, but there is one thing that they do realize: living with Gerri will change their lives forever.

I read this book in school. I really think it was outstanding. It teaches you a very important lesson: Everyone is different in their own way. Read this book if you like excietment. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading about peoples lifes and how they feel living with a mental challenged sibling.

i thought the book was very good but the ending let it down. i like the characters but i feel that we needed to get to know gerri more the whole story was mainly about neil and i would of liked to know more about margery. i would like there to be a welcome home jellybean 2 but it should be called something like jellybean 2 Gerri's adventure. My class and i very much enjoyed the book.
