Chance McDaniel wants to find out what happened to his best friend Alex Santiago, especially since most of the town blamed him for Alex's disappearance. Now that Alex is back from this unknown ordeal suffering from amnesia, his father and sister have come up from Mexico to help him recover. Chance just wants to talk to Alex, but he gets no farther than a conversation with his gorgeous sister Gabriella and practically a boot to the backside from Alex's domineering father. Gabriella wants more freedom than her sheltered life on the family estate in Mexico City has afforded. Constant threats of abduction and violence have been the norm for her whole life. She wants to see a little bit of Texas now that she is here and get to meet some of the people who were Alex's friends. She's wary of Chance, since he was the main suspect in Alex's kidnapping, but the sexy cowboy who claims to be innocent also seems to understand her like no one ever has. Will rides at his ranch and picnics by the lake be the perfect time for each to dig for the truth? Or will they end up losing their hearts? The romance goes from sweet to sizzling, and the continuing mystery will keep you coming back for the next book in the TCC series.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads! I really loved this book. I loved the chemistry between Chance & Gabriella! Gabriella has been guarded closely since the death of her mother when she was four. When her brother is kidnapped and found with no memory, she goes to Texas to be with her brother along with her bodyguard and father. While there, she meets Chance, her brothers best friend. The chemistry between the two is explosive. Chance and Gabriella will have to fight for a chance to be together and for her freedom. Will she be strong enough to stand up to her father for her right to be loved? Will she fight for her chance to live life and not be imprisoned or forced into a loveless marriage? I really recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance story!

HORRIBLE!  Don't waste your time or money. The plot is non existent, the characters are thin and it's downright boring.

Picking up a Harlequin category romance is always a safe bet. The story will be sweet, with a slight hint of heat, and a good, if sometimes predictable, plot. And there's nothing at all wrong with that. I enjoy picking up a category every now and then. I tend to grab up authors I like, such as Sarah M. Anderson. She always knows how to write a hunky hero. I will admit, What a Rancher Wants is not my favorite book by Anderson. But I still liked it, and I have no regrets about reading it. Gabriella may have lived a sheltered life, but she's strong and determined. I liked her. Chance, of course, is the right man for her, a goodhearted cowboy. Their story is sweet and very quick to progress. This was a very easy read, yet it still managed to grab my attention at times; I'm curious about the complete story behind Alex and his disappearance, not to mention the brief glimpse into the previous couples highlighted in this series.. I may read some of the other books. I can guarantee I will read more from Anderson, as I've loved her books in the past and even with an “average” rating, What a Rancher Wants was a quick, yet enjoyable, treat! 3 STARS! ~ * ~ * ~ For my full review, including favorite quotes from LONG TIME GONE, please visit my blog, TBQ's Book Palace. I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. TheBookQueen

She droops her head. "Okay...Thanks anyways..." She trotted away to the far side. Then trotted up to Hush.
