Overview

You may think you are a Christian—but are you sure? Jesus’ call to follow him is more than an invitation to pray a prayer. It is a summons to lose your life and find new life and ultimate joy in him. In David Platt’s book Follow Me: A Call to Die. A Call to Live he asks the question, “What did Jesus really mean when he said, ‘Follow me’?” What if we really listened to Jesus’ words and heard what he is saying? When people truly engage with Jesus’ personal invitation to follow him, everything changes, for he is worthy of all our trust and affections.

What Did Jesus Really Mean When He Said Follow Me? builds on the message of Follow Me to motivate readers to experience our grand purpose: to exalt the glory of God by spreading Christ’s gospel—to make disciples who are making disciples. This booklet is a great resource to share with others to discuss crucial faith questions in a personal and grace-filled manner and engage others to be disciple-makers in obedience to Jesus. Ideal for small groups or personal and mass evangelism.

Are you truly saved?

Jesus calls us to follow him, but if we examine how the Bible defines born-again Christ-followers, we see that full attention, self-denial, and transformation of our desires are what is required.

Are you truly born-again? The call to follow Christ is not about praying a prayer, but about losing your life.

Read this booklet and examine your spiritual life according to the biblical standard. Then read Pastor David Platt’s book Follow Me to explore what it truly means to live for Christ.

Great little book that talks about what it really means to follow Jesus. This was a quick, easy read that offers very insightful, thought-provoking information on what it means to truly follow Jesus.

Has the modern, American Christian lost the meaning of what it means to follow Jesus? Has "deciding to follow Jesus" been reduced to a list of do's and dont's? David Platt, in his small booklet, discusses these questions and knows that there is so much more. Platt exhorts Christians to really understand what it means to be Christ follower and what it would look like if Christians live out sacrificial love for God and others. He explains that were the American church embrace its calling from God the world would take notice and things would look much different. It would cause many to follow those who follow Christ; disciples would be made. That is what following Christ should do: make disciples.

Follow Me is just okay to me. There are some good points throughout the book, but I really didn't feel a connection with the author. I felt like he was judgmental at times and I found it to be irritating. I did find some of his stories of faith to be good. And it did have me thinking, as well. Overall, in my opinion the book was half good and half okay. 3 stars

This is a valuable little refresher. This is a short book that can explain to newbies or refresh the faith of experienced believers. It clarifies and emphasizes pertinent Scriptures. It is useful to renew your focus on the important things and point you in God’s direction.

I enjoyed this book and its a quick read. I think its useful for someone that is new to the bible or a new Christian. For people like myself that has read many non-fiction books over the years and its a great reminder to follow Jesus and put Jesus first.
