"Love, in its truest form, reveals God to us." In the author's personal journey through supporting a transgender child, she asked the question that we Christians should ask in all matters. In What Does God Think? Cheryl Evans describes the paths to her personal answer, the paths of Scripture, Science, and Common Sense. I, personally, agree with her ultimate conclusion, though I disagree with some of her points. And, there lies the magic of this book. This is a conversation, not an attack on those with different viewpoints. What Does God Think? God thinks in terms of Love, and this passionate, wise, calm, and kind book is written in those terms. It is an invitation to consider our own interpretation of the nature of God, and how that affects our treatment of others. I agreed to read this Advanced Reader Copy in hopes of using the content as a weapon against those who hate the people I love. This book does not lend itself as a weapon, but as a tool for understanding and compassion toward all sides. Division does not have a place in this book and, as humans, division should not have a place in our story, either. What Does God Think? is a fantastic resource to begin a genuine conversation. As Ms. Evans says, "You are brave, you are beautiful, and you are a perfect, valued child of God." So, let's talk.

Reading this book was so comforting to me. I found myself nodding along as I read it. I am not theological at all. I find myself getting lost in all of the many different translations and interpretations of the Bible. Reading this book brought everything down to an understandable level. As I was reading, I was thinking of all of the different people I want to buy this for. It is, in my mind, a very educational piece and gave me great comfort as I go through this process with my child. I don't want vague justifications, but clear, logical answers and insights. Cheryl has a way of taking this difficult, deep and often confusing topic and making it understandable.
