Chapter One

There is an elephant who likes to play in the park; and she plays with a bear named Clouse.

There is Fred the toad, Susie the squirrel, and finally Jack the mouse.

The elephant is pink, called Sayde Christine; shes shy because she stands so high. Shes taller than Fred, Jack, Susie and Clouse; and shes taller than even the slides.

Now its a fact that she bigger than Jack.

But Jack doesnt seem to care.

But one day last Spring Jack stopped in his swing and put his nose in the air.

"What is that smell?

Can you tell that smell?"

Jack said to Sayde, surprised.

"Why I declare, its coming from there!

What is that in the air?"

Now, Sayde being shy didnt readily reply but rather just simply said, "What smell is that?

Why I cant smell that;" and continued to play with Clouse.

Susie looked up as Fred did too; they both looked up to the sky. Susie saw birds; she saw the sun and a kite; and Fred saw a plane flying by.

"I see birds, the sun and a kite," Susie said, pointing them out.

"I see a plane", said Fred just the same, "But that smell, Its freaking me out!"

SNIFF, SNIFF

"What is that smell? Can you tell that smell?" Fred said to Susie, surprised.

"Why I declare, its coming from there! What is that in the air?"

But Sayde kept cool as she stepped in her pool, and played along with the act.

"What smell is that? I cant smell that;" and continued to play with Clouse.

Now Clouse the bear looked up in the air and noticed two bumble bees.

Then he stopped and sniffed; took a big, big, whiff and said, "I think I agree!"

"I see bees, I see a honey cone and I know that it must be sweet.

But I also can tell theres a funny smell as sure as I stand on my feet!"

SNIFF SNIFF

"What is that smell? Can you tell that smell?" Clouse said to Sayde, surprised.

"Why I declare, its coming from there! What is that in the air?"

Sayde was not sly though she tried to deny; she decided it best to admit.

She took a deep breath and began to explain she passed air from a place where she sits.

"I made that smell! Can you tell that smell?" Sayde said to her friends with glee!

"I must declare I let gas in the air so you see all along it was me!"
