Whether it’s repairing a home or taking care of clients’ other needs, Twin Cities handyman Sam Haney is in demand from his mostly female clientele. Despite Sam’s lothario reputation, love isn’t part of his portfolio. He’s built a lot of walls in his time, but the one that’s surrounded his heart ever since the death of his parents is his most solid yet.

Haley Cooper has had enough heartache for a lifetime. Her high school sweetheart up and moved to Indonesia—alone—just two weeks before their wedding. Her mother thinks it’s time for Haley to move on and contracts Sam to work on Haley’s wreck of a house—and anything else, if he’s got the notion.

Sparks fly and passion ignites. But Haley isn’t into Sam’s love-’em-and-leave-’em act. She wants something more. Fixing a house is one thing, but for this handyman, building a relationship will need a whole different set of skills.

I liked this book and had a lot of fun with it. I really didn't know a whole lot about the book but when I saw that it was offered through Prime Reading at Amazon, I decided to give it a try. It was a really quick listen for me and I was able to get through the whole book in just a couple of days. It wasn't perfect but it had some really great moments that made the overall experience quite enjoyable. One thing that I had to get past with this book was the initial set up. Sam becomes well known as the handyman offering a few more personal services. I was quite amused by how things started until Haley's mother got involved. Haley's mother sends Sam to work on Haley's house and requests his personal touch. What mother does that? Every mother I know would do everything in their power to prevent such a thing from happening. It just felt odd to me but I went with it and just had fun watch Sam and Haley. I really liked Sam and Haley together. They both had some pretty big issues to work through and I thought that they were really good for each other. I love how Haley confides in Sam and takes his advice. Sam really had a hard time opening up to other but he was very drawn to Haley. I wish that Sam could have worked through some of his issues a little quicker and saved both of them some heartache but everything worked out in the end. I think that this is the second time that I have listened to Teri Clark Linden and I thought she did a good job with the book. Her voice was very pleasant to listen to for hours at a time and she was able to bring a lot of emotion to the story. I thought that the character voices that she used were all very well done. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to more of her work in the future. I would recommend this book to others. It was a fun romance that had the happily ever after that I wanted to see. This was the first book by Barbara Longley that I have had the chance to read but I look forward to more in the future.

What You Do to Me by Barbara Longley is an entertaining read. The characters are fun to get to know and I liked how they were brought together; through the power of a radio call-in show. The writing is fluid, and the dialogue is fresh. I love stories where a woman successfully takes on a man's job, and Ms. Longley brings this about with determination and patience. Haley Cooper is a recently dumped paralegal, and she lives in a fixer-upper with a ton of potential. She has done much of the grunt work herself, but she needs some professional expertise in order to make her cottage livable. So her meddlesome mother hires talented handyman Sam Haney, with the intention of getting Haley's home completed, along with a possible flirtation or two. Sam has an exaggerated reputation with the ladies, which ends up being brought to life on a local radio station. Haley and Sam share an instant chemistry, which evolves into a few hot kisses and amazing sex. Sam's goal is to prove to Haley that he is a talented carpenter, as well as a one woman man. However, Sam needs to work through his demons from the past, in order to foresee a future with Haley. Luckily, with the help of his siblings and grandfather, he begins to believe that he worthy of being in love. I liked this book and the story-line is both engaging and fun. I instantly bonded with Haley and Sam because they are extremely realistic and lively characters. The secondary characters, including Haley's best friends and Sam's siblings, add a layer of depth to the story. If you are looking for a contemporary read with a lot passion and enjoyment, then pick up a copy of this book. Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

This is the first book in a new series from Barbara Longley and the series should be a fun one to read! This book definitely was. Local handyman Sam Haney has quite a reputation. One that spreads like wildfire when he calls in to a radio talk show in an attempt to defend himself. Now he's fighting off advances from the women of St. Paul except maybe from the one woman he finds himself inexplicably drawn to. Considering he doesn't ever want to risk his heart to love why he can't get Haley Cooper out of his head makes no sense. Haley's already had her heart broken once and there is no way she is going to fall for Sam Haney. No matter how attracted to him she is. His love em and leave em lifestyle isn't for her. Nope - not for her. Ever. Well maybe..... This story is very well done and it's definitely a book I highly recommend.
