I bought this book for my 14-year-old. He learned the 'facts of life' several years ago, but this book covers topics that he would be uncomfortable discussing with mom and dad. It provides a matter-of-fact explanation of many of the mysteries of puberty, beyond the basic description given in most health or sciences classes at this age. I liked the book because it was so direct and matter-of-fact, as well as reassuring about the wide range of 'normal', which can be so important at this age.

Through my difficult preteen years I was often mocked due to my homosexuality. Without a doubt this book was the main reason that I realized that my body, and its changes, were OK, and that my homosexuality was not a sin or abnormality. In addition, this book offers needed information about sexuality and masturbation. This book is the most essential and influential guide a young man could have to growing up. Now, I am older and wiser thanks to this book, a responsible adult.

First gave this book to my nephew when he was 13 (now 27) who kept asking me why he was not growing or when was he going to grow and other personal questions. Not sure why he was asking me since I was his Aunt, Lol. My sister said it was because I was always straight and honest with the kids. When he was 5 I gave him the book "Where Did I Come From" when he kept asking how babies were made... I did ask him why was he not asking his Parents. I gave to my sister to read first to answer follow up questions. That said, this is a great book and covers many things that they may not feel comfortable asking their dads about and it's gives them the tools to take care of themselves properly - grooming. It also helps them have a conversation with their fathers to clarify or get their experience on topics covered. I now give this book to all my male relatives on their 13 birthday and the girls get "Growing Up. It's a Girl Thing". Love this book since it's tells what's happening to their bodies but explain they are still children and must listen to their parents. My niece is now 26. I recently gave this book to a friends son with parents permission (friend), and my nephew (standard gift now even though most have read their brother/cousins book already - this is their personal book).

Ok... dont freak out but im a girl but since I am a girl I can tell you that girls like boys who are smart, nice (but also bad boys), care about what the girl wants, and wont try to be super controlling but during a scary movie will put thier arms around the girl to comfort her even if they are the scared ones. But before you start getting to know her in a romantic way become good friends with her and ease into a romantic relationship slowly. Also if you look at this book but for girls their are literally like 700 super inaproppriate comments for some reason... also these tips especially work for 10 to 13 year old girls for all you other guys out there. And how can you tell if a boy likes you because I literally have know idea as far as boys go...

There is this very pretty girl, named Mlarissa, and she is in every class i am in. She gets great grades and i get terrible grades. So i am pretty shy and i am afraid of she not wanting to hangout with me. What do i do? She is the perfect girl and theres is another problem, she is dating this guy who is pretty much prince charming. And he is in every class as me, except English. Also i shall them once ,when i was taking a walk, kiss each other for like 1 min then she started to pull away, but the guy pulled her in to kiss her for 8 more min. So i hid in a bush. Please help!!! ~ Saddude
