This is not your ordinary sea battle (if there could ever be an ordinary sea battle). My pop was in the Navy during World War II. Even though he was wounded he stayed at his battle station. When Duty Whispers Low” is a thoroughly researched World War II novel. It has characters that are real with real problems  and fears with two enemies who must join forces in battle. It is a continuation of a series by John J. Gobbell, whose own experience  on a destroyer makes “When Duty Whispers Low” another winner of his that is worth reading.
