A father's work is never really done; then again, neither is a lover's.

After a few ups and downs, Alec "Smoke" Avery and Anne Phillips have found a rhythm they can both groove to, and they've made a love connection, which is just fine with their sixteen-year-old son, Isaiah. Four years later, when the grooving really starts to get good, the past comes back to haunt them in ways they never imagined.

With Isaiah off at Kentucky State on a basketball scholarship, out of harm's way and destined for the NBA, Smoke and Anne think they can rest easy. But Isaiah's old nemesis, Hood, isn't done wreaking havoc in Isaiah's life. When he reaches out and touches Isaiah on campus and almost destroys Isaiah's life, Smoke is forced to make his presence known to the thug once again.

On the home front, Smoke and Anne seem to be growing further and further apart each day, partly because of Smoke's wandering ways and partly because of Anne's emotional baggage. Things get tense when Anne decides to do a little wandering of her own and Smoke can't take the competition. And things go from bad to worse when, in the midst of a heated lover's quarrel, Smoke and Anne commit the perfect murder to save their son and themselves. When the smoke clears, truths will have to be told, and Anne will have to accept that she and Smoke are more alike than she cares to admit.

Great book. Smoke made me mad. Anne had her problems but she did not let anything or anyone get in her way.

Read where there's smoke and couldn't put in down. Read the sequel and couldn't out it down either. However, Terra Little is putting it down (she's doing her thing)! I Love It!! Can't wait for part 3.

"Where There's Smoke 2" gives readers another glimpse into the lives of Smoke and Anne. It's a few years later and we find their son, Isaiah, away at college and they've welcomed a new addition to the family - Iris. Things are good. But as is life, how quickly things can change. Smoke's ex, Diana, is bent on interrupting their happily ever after. Though things are better, or at least tolerable, with Anne and her mother, her insecurities and resentment are never far from the surface. And someone is making trouble for Isaiah. Where there's smoke, is there still fire? I enjoyed "Where There's Smoke 2's" intimate portrayal of this family with all their idiosyncrasies, and most importantly the love they share. I like that Little featured real people in a real relationship with real problems. With skill, she enlists us to care about these characters. And, in the process, she delivers a very good book. Little gives just enough information from book one to remind previous readers and bring new readers up to speed without making the error of retelling the story. The only thing I didn't care for was that she seemed to let the narration get away from her, at some point, with too many narrators (Erica, Dino, Alice and Iris). "Where There's Smoke 2" is easily recommendable. Terra Little gives another solid presentation. I look forward to what she has in store for readers next. Reviewed by: Toni 4.5

I must say I missed these character in the first installment and I am pleased to say I wasn't disappointed although the drama wasn't at its highest as the first you defiantly will enjoy this read. So Ann, Smoke, and Isiah are back. Ann has started to live like the wife she would never though she would be and well Alec lets just say a man can be tempted by another. So when everything seems to be hitting them hard all at once they start to play mind games. Isaiah away at college is on cloud nine. A great school career a new love and his parents are together. That is until a blast from his past wants him to remember where he cam from. Ms Little delivered another turn pager for me and I was happy to get to see these characters rise all above the drama. But the ride there was crazy but juicy to read. Another great read from Terra Little. Tamika newhouse AAMBC Reviewer

I've experienced waves of emotions during my fantastic voyage with the memorable characters of Where There's Smoke 2. The author's effort in the ongoing tales of Isaiah, Anne and Alec (Smoke) left me breathless. Not to mention the introduction (or should I say ... reintroduction) and development of Dino, Alice, Laverne and Ulysses. Currently, Anne and Alec have reunited and she's relocated back to her hometown, a place which still possess awful memories for her. Although youthful and dazzling, she's still haunted by the treatment of her mother and sister. Alec is madly in love with Anne but he's feeling useless. He foolishly turns to an ex-flame, Diana, who wrecks havoc in his already unbalanced world. Isaiah is the spitting image of his father, Alec. He's witty, talented and did I mention those mesmerizing hazel-gray eyes? Between his studies, basketball and his new boo, Erica, Isaiah still finds the time to referee his quarrelling parents. Dino, although less visible in the first installment, is my favorite character. He's an inconspicuous giant who won't think twice about slaughtering those who screw with the people he loves. When Isaiah's adversary emerges, Dino, Anne and Smoke swiftly intervene. Their actions will shock you once and for all. Ms. Little, I thank you for the laughs and the tears. You deserve a lengthy standing ovation for a job well done. It's the best I've read this year.
