Arnold Lobel's very popular 'Books to the ceiling, books to the sky.' poem is in this book. Teachers of reading programs frequently quote this poem, and it's a favorite of booklovers in general. Although the book is out of print, we've found the 'Books to the Ceiling' poem and artwork reprinted by Owl Square Press. Or just buy a used copy of the book! Kids and booklovers will love it!
Some are silly, some are sad, and some are very sweet for any age. I've bought a few copies just so I can cut out and frame the great drawings with their poems. My favorite as a book lover is: 'Books to the ceiling, books to the sky. My piles of books are a mile high. How I love them! How I need them! I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.' And my now-grown children still remember the 'Man dressed all in cheese.' Very nice. Very much fun.
