Overview

Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts, Peter Berkrot

For more than three hundred years, Bluff House has sat above Whiskey Beach, guarding its shore—and its secrets.

To summer tourists, it’s the crown jewel of the town’s stunning scenery. To the residents of Whiskey Beach, it’s landmark and legend. To Eli Landon, it’s home....

A Boston lawyer, Eli has weathered an intense year of public scrutiny and police investigation after being accused of murdering his soon-to-be ex-wife. And though there was never enough evidence to have him arrested, his reputation is in tatters as well as his soul. He needs sanctuary. He needs Bluff House.

While Eli’s beloved grandmother is in Boston, recuperating from a nasty fall, Abra Walsh has cared for Bluff House, among her other jobs as yoga instructor, jewelry maker, and massage therapist. She is a woman with an open heart and a wide embrace, and no one is safe from her special, some would say overbearing, brand of nurturing—including Eli.

He begins to count on Abra for far more than her cooking, cleaning, and massage skills, and starts to feel less like a victim—and more like the kind of man who can finally solve the murder of his wife and clear his name. But Bluff House’s many mysteries are a siren song to someone intent on destroying Eli and reaping the rewards. He and Abra will become entangled in a centuries-old net of rumors and half-truths that could pull them under the thunderous waters of Whiskey Beach....

Passion and obsession, humor and heart flow together in a novel about two people opening themselves up to the truth—and to each other.

Love having a male protagonist. Story moved along briskly and I could not put the book down. In classic Nora style she told a story about coming out of the dark and finding the light. I loved every minute of reading it. Nora Roberts is the only author I have ever read who can make me laugh out loud when I read.

Based on murder and suspense the Whiskey Beach has all the ingredients to become a classic

This book should be on everyone's must read list. It has murder, mystery, and legends. Nora Roberts has once again given us a wonderful book that you just can't put down.

As always, Nora Roberts has written a book with characters that you wish you knew in your own life. This book has it all, suspense, romance, family, friends, humor, good sex and a terrific location. I can hardly wait for any book by the author to be released because I am never disappointed.

Not my favorite. She spent too much time reminding my to make the bed, clean the house, and do my yoga. I could read a self help manual for all of that. I bought the book because it was a Nora Roberts.

I was pretty disappointed with this particular outing. It was not up to par as a stand alone novel. The storyline wasn't as fleshed out as it could have been and I didn't really care about the mystery at all. The relationship development between the main characters was enjoyable and thankfully they were totally new people and not recycled [which often happens]. I feel that this book didn't have to be released as a hardback novel, at all.

This was by far one of Nora Roberts better books in a while. Good plot, humour and romantic suspense.

Not as good as some of her other books.

This is the most boring, predictable Nora Roberts book I've ever read, and It was obvious to me whodunit after about the first 10 pages. The love story followed the familiar formula of two emotionally damaged people rising above their past traumas to heal each other. I kept speed reading through all the verbiage trying to find any interesting arc, but felt duped by Ms. Roberts' marketing staff who obviously published this inferior product in time for the summer beach-read books.

I always love Nora Roberts books. This one was written from a male point of view. The characters were well developed and the story interesting. A good read.

I am an avid Nora Roberts fan--have read many of her novels and look forward to the next release. But this book dragged through the middle. I just didnt connect to either character and found the ending anticlimatic

WORST Nora Roberts book ever. I usually read her books in a day and this one took me 5 days.

I always enjoy Nora Roberts' books. I was glad this was a stand alone, the trilogies are nice, too. I loved the characters of Eli and Abra. Great read!

You can never mistake a Nora Roberts book as being written by another author. You’re always fully engaged from the very beginning, and this story is no exception. The books just keep getting better as the years go by.

I really liked reading this book. I liked it because it had mystery, suspense and romance all rolled into one great story. The suspense kept me reading for long periods of time. I did not want to put the book down. I loved the interaction of the two main characters. I kept laughing at their banter. It was a good story of murder, jealousy and greed. It also had great romance and humor. Highly recommend.

This book had me clinging to every word, and page flipping like a mad woman. I loved Abra. Her spunky attitude and quick wit made every part of this book entertaining. Eli was a troubled, honest character that had me routing for him threw the whole conflict. It was wonderful to watch him blossom again. The conflict of the story kept me guessing until the final reveal. Worth reading multiple times, just like every book nora puts out.

Great characters, suspense was thrilling. I couldn't put the book down, it was like a fun treasure hunt/murder mystery. Recommend it to anyone!
