Overview

Take a risk.
Do something drastic.
Fall in love.

When Amberlyn Reilly loses her mother, her whole world comes crashing down. Having been caretaker to her for most of her teenage years, Amberlyn is inexperienced in many aspects of life. She hasn't had time to live, have fun, or enjoy even the little things. It's only when a letter from her mother, asking her to fulfill three things, sends her off to Ireland to live a life she never thought possible that she begins to heal.

Declan O'Callaghan was born and raised in Ireland and has his family's legendary whiskey in his veins. He's shy and not a fan of the pressure and spotlight that comes with his family name, or the title he was given at birth--the Whiskey Prince. Declan knows just what he wants and that is to take over the family dynasty, but when his father gives him an ultimatum, everything he's worked for could come undone in the blink of an eye.

With six months to get married, the reclusive Declan spots Amberlyn across a lake and instantly feels the need to know her. Soon, the two find themselves traveling down a path neither expected. However, like any road, there are bumps and side streets to derail them. Can Declan help find the pieces that will make Amberlyn whole again? And will Amberlyn stay or run when she learns of Declan's deadline of marriage?

About the Author

My name is Toni aleo and I'm a #PredHead, #sherrio, #potterhead, and part of the #familybusiness! I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a gamer and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Gaston el Papillon. While my beautiful and amazing Shea Weber has been traded from my Predators, I'm still a huge fan but when I'm not cheering for him, I'm hollering for the whole Nashville Predators since I'll never give my heart to one player again. When I'm not in the gym getting swole, I'm usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality or being a taxi for my kids. I'm obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney and anything that sparkles! I'm pretty sure I was Belle in a past life and if I could be on any show it would be supernatural so I can hunt with Sam and Dean. Also, I did mention I love hockey, right?

I admit I was a little wary going into this book by Toni Aleo in a new genre, but I just cannot say enough about it now... She's done an excellent job capturing true (combining compatibility and "meant to be") love, and can I just say that Declan was THE dream guy... And what a dream guy -- a mixture of shyness as well as tenderness and humor and, of course, hotness! CANNOT wait for the next installment! Bravo, Toni, bravo!

If you are looking to find a book that is a prime example of New Adult fiction done right then Whiskey Prince by Toni Aleo is the book. Ms. Aleo’s world is full of everything from leaving home for the first time, career choices, new relationships and even the angst with a dose of heart break to leave you losing yourself in this world and only coming up for air when you must. The cover is a great example of how simple and yet heartfelt this book is from cover to cover. Make sure you really take a look because you might miss some of the things that are pivotal to the entire book. And if you love book covers like I do this is one that may very well become the new trend in book covers like the single items that are on most of Sylvia Day’s books. So hopefully you did take a minute to really look at the cover but what you want to know is what about the story? This is a book I will definitely return to over and over. There are so many layers and subtle story telling devices used that I am still in awe over this story. The over arching plot revolves around Amberlyn Reilly making a huge life altering move after the loss of her mother. The depth and scope of the grief that Ms. Aleo packs into Amberlyn still resounds with me and I’m sure with anyone who has lost a loved one will also feel this impact very strongly. Meanwhile Declan O’Callaghan is born and raised in Ireland with the expectation of taking over the family whiskey business once he comes of age and marries. The exchanges between Declan and his family are told with care. We see a family struggling with tradition but a resolve to see it carried onto the next generation but a desire to ensure that all the key ingredients are included like a marriage for love and not one of convenience or position. And if you missed it, the majority of this book is set in Ireland and that means amazing accents. In fact I’m hopeful that this book will be converted into an Audiobook and have a male narrator that embodies the Irish accent. Here is hoping! The secondary characters include Declan’s best friend, Kane, and Amberlyn’s cousin, Fiona, really encourage the story along and help to fuel and fix some of the roadblocks that come between Declan and Amberlyn. But I’m sure you are wondering about the chemistry between our main characters: a page turner. The first kiss between these two was stellar. The entire sequence had me completely riveted and I forgot that I had to wash laundry and cook dinner. Well done, Ms. Aleo. Now I’m hoping you will go out and grab a copy of this book ASAP but I do have one minor caveat, this book is in 3rd person and switches from Declan to Amberlyn and back through out the book. And I know that some people don’t like that style of writing but I was never once lost and loved that I got a look at both of their reactions to events through out the entire book. Final Thoughts: Buy this book immediately. This is the 1st New Adult book to make my Best of 2014 list and I’m thrilled to include it. I’m hopeful that there will be additional books in this world, Ms. Aleo. Not to mention, can we have this on audio pretty please with cherries on top? Toni Aleo provided me with a copy of Whiskey Prince but nothing else was exchanged for my honest review.

I started this book somewhere around the late afternoon yesterday and ended up reading it all the way through by late that night. I think I finished sometime around midnight. I haven't done that in a long time. And it felt good to be held captive once again by a fun and amazing read with minimal pit stops. Aleo gives readers a great book that has you falling in love right along with the characters. The storyline, which in the end could have been a stuffy and predicable read, was anything but. I found it quite unique and the characters entertaining and endearing. I honestly thought one of the characters was going to do something brash and end up in a lot of trouble. So yeah, the story held a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming. When the book first released back in 2014 the cover alone had me wanting to read it. Then of course, when I read the blurb, I knew I had to. But life and book reviews got in the way. I really wish I hadn't put this one off because it was just that good. But I inhaled it quickly and look forward to continuing the story with the next book, BECOMING THE WHISKEY PRINCESS. 5 Stars! 1 like ·

Such a good story! Declan & Amberlyn's story is sweet and full of love and promise! I'm not usually a big fan of young adult/new adult, but I love how this story is written. I am looking forward to seeing the story continue in Becoming the Whiskey Princess!

Ooh, I absolutely love Amberlynn and DeClams story!! It was heartwarming, emotional, loving, promoted family, history and a love of all time between two lovely strong people.  Amberlynn goes to Ireland after losing her mom to cancer after fighting for two years, Amberlynn had homeschooled herself, staying home with her mother to live out her days with her-making them count.  She had lost her father at 12 years old-it was hard as they were buddies too.   Amberlynn stays at her dads sisters, her aunt's b&b with a pub and helps ay the pub-her cousin, Fiona becomes a sister to her.  And then she meets DeClan-wham, bam she knows he's special and will b an important part of her life.   I couldn't put this book down once-read it straight through.  Toni Aleo hasn't disappointed with this terrific story; can't wait to read the companion novella "The Whiskey Princess" and I hope the saga continues as it would make a ass-kicking series.   8 stars!

This was a change from the usual books written by Ms.Aleo, but just as well written, peopled with characters that you would love to know. Ms.Aleo has never let me down, whether it is sexy hockey heroes finding their loves, or young adults growing into theirs. I'm looking forward to any new books by this author, especially the next book about the Whiskey Prince and Amberlyn.
