A straitlaced bookseller and a rowdy trail guide fight their ill-suited attraction in Book Five of the Prairie Hearts series by USA Today bestselling author Caroline Fyffe.

Wyoming Territory, October 1883

Tabitha Canterbury came to Logan Meadows with one goal: to open the bookshop she’s always dreamed of having. In a town full of illiterate cowboys, though, making the Storybook Lodge a success is easier said than done. And things get more complicated when the saloon next door gets a new co-owner and Tabitha finds herself falling for the wrong sort of man.…

After a lifetime guiding settlers across the prairie, Hunter Wade isn’t looking to stay put in Logan Meadows. But as a partner in the Bright Nugget saloon, he’s determined to turn a profit—and if that puts him in competition with Miss Hoity-Toity Canterbury, that’s fine. Even if she is beautiful, and clever, and always ready with a witty retort.

Can these two stubborn souls come together—or will pride keep them apart?

Tabitha is an independent woman who owns the town's bookstore but meets her match in Hunter, who came to town to be partner on the Saloon. Their pathway to love involves twist and turns. Enjoy revisiting Logan Meadows and all the townsfolk. Settle down and enjoy the trip back to the old west. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks.

Whispers on the Wind (A Prairie Hearts Novel Book 5) by Caroline Fyffe, but can be read as a stand alone. However, because it is such a wonderful series, I'd suggest reading them all! Another thoroughly satisfying Historical Western Romance! I simply adore the "A Prairie Hearts Novel", series! In "Whispers on the Wind", readers find themelves, once again, in Logan Meadows, Wyoming Territory, in 1883 with a rowdy trail guide/wagon master, Hunter Wade, a strait-laced, smart mouthed bookseller, Tabitha Canterbury, and some interesting sparks flying. Hunter, is a drifter, looking to set roots and settle down, he is co-owner of the Bright Nugget saloon, which is next door to where else, Miss Canterbury's bookstore. Sparks fly! With trouble on the horizon, danger lurking, a hasty marriage, misunderstandings, healing, forgiveness, will Hunter and Tabitha be able to find their HEA, or lose all to the threat at hand, horrible, and thoughtless misunderstandings? Well written with well-developed and captivating characters. The storyline is steady paced, with many twists and turns, a true Western Historical Romance, from beginning to the last page. Readers will find themselves caught up the the lives of the people of Logan Meadows, especially Tabitha and Hunter. What amazing and dare I say, entertaining characters! Readers can't help but feel their angst, and their love blossoming. Ms. Fyffe has written an incredible tale of love, with a bit of suspense, throw in a bit of mystery and lots of sparks, and you have a very entertaining, captivating and seductive tale. Once again, Ms. Fyffe shows her talent in mesmerizing storytelling, her well-developed characters and her knowledge of the Wyoming Territory in the 1880's. Fantastic read! I would strongly recommend picking up your copy today, set back and be throughly entertained. A sweet, charming and well thought out story! Another must read from Carolyn Fyffe! I can't wait to see what awaits her readers next! Received for an honest review from Net Galley. However, all opinions, insights and thoughts are my own personal opinions. This story is so good that it was hard to put down. As all the other books in The Prairie Hearts series. There are so many twists and turns in each book that you are drawn in from the beginning to the end. This one is no exception. Each character is well developed and each has so many facets to them that you never know how this story is going to turn out. I loved the main characters Tabitha and Hunter. Two different and unique characters brought together under meeting in the mercantile right after Hunter Wade reaches town. From then on all kinds of things happen and you are surprised at each turn in events. An awesome story that leaves you wanting the next book right away. Hopefully there will be a next story as there is still so much in this town of Logan Meadows that needs to be explored in my opinion, and people who either are really “characters” if you know what I mean. I love all the stories I have read of Caroline Fyffe’s from the Prairie Hearts series to her awesome and fun McCutcheon Series. Caroline creates those characters that you love to read about and stories that your heart clamors for. Her scenes are described in a way that you feel you are there kind of watching things just from the edges of each scene. Inside the buildings, walking down the street, watching other well known characters go by the window of the book store or mercantile or saloon in Hunter’s case in this story. You feel like you are part of the town immediately. These to me are the things that make each of her stories great and so fun to read. If you haven’t read any other books in this series start with the first one and continue to get to know the characters and the town and how it came to be. Thank you Caroline for writing exquisite stories that make me laugh, sigh, sometimes cry and that make me amazed at the twists and turns each story makes that you aren’t really sure what is going to happen next or how it will turn out. I am blessed each time I read one of your amazingly wonderful stories. I was given a copy by the publisher for my unbiased review.

Such an enjoyable story full of everyday struggles in the 1800's. Life in the West was hard, dangerous, sometimes lonely but also very rewarding. The characters are unique in this well written story and they have great connections. Hunter and Tabitha are two very different people, both hard headed but have a strong attraction to one another. Love can find a way if they just let it happen. Fantastic read! Gifted a copy for an honest review.

Once again Caroline Fyffe has created a story that was just captivating. A hero that I absolutely fell in love with, and a heroine that I was completely rooting for from the first pages. Tabitha is her own woman. Leaving all she ever knew, she headed west with nothing but her dreams of owning her own bookstore. And she founds those dreams in Logan Meadows. Known as the town spinster at the age of almost 29, she has her home and her business, not to mention countless friends to make her happy. Life is good. And then Hunter rode into town. Hunter has always been a sort of drifter. Being a wagon master has given him opportunities to see the country. But never set down roots. And with his half ownership into the Bright Nugget saloon that is exactly what he will have. Can be adapt to having a place to call home? When he meets Tabitha he is instantly drawn to her. Her confidence and beauty alone are more that enough, but he senses in her more. A strength even she must not realize. And therein lies the danger to his heart. She is well above him and he knows it. There's nothing he could ever offer her to make her see him as anything else as the saloon owner and a thorn in her side. Through many disagreements about the saloon they are drawn together and the attraction between them grows. And when a speedy wedding and a murderous threat come to town, maybe they will see their own hearts. Will misunderstanding and thoughtless words keep them apart or will they realize they are perfect for one another? Another perfect and mesmerizing story and I can't wait for more!!

Whispers on the Wind is the fifth book in the series. While it can be read as a stand alone title, I highly recommend that you read the series from the beginning. That way you can experience the true beauty of Logan Meadows and it's inhabitants. With each book we are introduced to new characters and get to revisit the ones we lost our hearts to in previous volumes. Caroline has a way of painting beautiful pictures with her words so it is impossible not to become emotionally invested in her characters' lives. I laughed and I cried and I felt my blood boil as I read this story. I was rooting for my favorites and shaking my head when some reverted back to their old ways. As always, from the very first page, I was on a roller coaster of emotions. I am looking forward to the next book in the series because I have so many questions that I am hoping will get answered. I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.
