Reviewed by April Gilly for Readers' Favorite White As Snow by Jess James is the story of Selena Snow. Selena lost her mother and watched her father re-marry a woman that she didn't like and who didn't like her in return, and then lost her dear father to influenza shortly after turning 17. For a while, Selena is able to live peacefully with her stepmother, but it's not long before her stepmother throws her out after finding Selena in a bad position. Forced from her home, Selena leaves town and hopes to start out fresh. Her hopes come true when she quickly finds a job and seven new friends. As her stepmother continues to plot, Selena learns more about herself, continues to grow, and learns just what her new friends really mean to her. White As Snow by Jess James is along the lines of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, a story that we are all familiar with, but White As Snow is more modern and throws in some small variations that make it unique and fun to read! White As Snow is full of strong imagery that put me right there with Selena as she learned, grew, and blossomed into her own woman that wasn't under the control of anybody. White As Snow may be a very short book, but that doesn't make it any less of a very good book! With a clear plot and a story line that keeps moving, White As Snow makes a very good adult story for right before bed. I will be on the watch for more work by Jess James.
