About the Author

Mary Peace Finley was raised in the southeastern Colorado town of Fowler on the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railroad line, eighty miles west of the Lamar. She is a graduate of the University of Denver, a former teacher of English-as-a-Foreign Language, a television scriptwriter, and author of four historical novels set in southeastern Colorado and along the Santa Fe Trail.

The three novels in her Santa Fe Trail Trilogy are award winners: Meadow Lark (Colorado Book Award), White Grizzly (Benjamin Franklin Award), Soaring Eagle (Top Hand Award from Colorado Author's League).

Her latest novel, The Midnight Ride of Blackwell Station, is a humorous tale of mystery, suspense, and enterprise set in 1886 as railroads were changing the face of the West. The story is based on actual events in the founding of the town of Lamar.

Julio was an orphan, no doubt about that. His whole family was Mexican and/or from an Inian tribe, they all had dark skin and hair, while Julio had light skin and blond hair. In White Grizzly, Julio finds out who his real family is. he goes out to search for his waithing grandfather. He has to endure hardships of a wagon train to get there. this book has adventure, excitement. this book keeps you hooked through out the 215 pages it has, so if uyou like adventure, excitement, and a book that keeps you hooked, then you will love this book.
