Overview

After a two-year-long wild ride the Jonas Brothers finally earned two weeks off last spring. Instead of relaxing, Nick locked himself in Nashville's Blackbird Studios. Armed with ten strikingly soulful new songs (all written or co-written by Nick) and joined by four accomplished musicians, Nick didn't come up for air until the work was done. The result: "Who I Am" from Nick Jonas & the Administration, a CD that radically expands the borders of Nick's musical ambitions.

He couldn't do it alone. Along with Nick on lead vocals, the Administration line-up includes drummer Michael Bland (Prince, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men, Rob Thomas), keyboardist Tommy Barbarella (Prince, Switchfoot, Jonny Lang), album-only guitarist David Ryan Harris (John Mayer, Santana) and bassist John Fields (Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Pink) who also produced the CD. Guitarist Sonny Thompson (Jonny Lang, Switchfoot) joins the band for their 2010 tour.

Fueling the album's 10 songs was Nick's long-held fascination with politics, especially politics at the top. Throughout, Nick included allusions to the presidency, from the White House Rose Garden to the symbolic olive branch and arrows clutched in the talons of the American eagle (fans will have fun spotting all the clues). But "Who I Am" is not a political album. Rather, through the idiom of rock and soul music, it's a survey of the ungovernable human heart.

Well,I'm a sixteen year old girl so you can already guess that I am a big Jonas Brothers fan and that it would be a given that I'd like Nick Jonas's solo album, but that is not the case. This album is SO much different than the usual JB stuff. Its more mature and deep and you can connect with it emotionally,it can make you want to dance. It has a jazz feel too it and also a classic rock feel also. The first time I listened to it,I finally felt as if I could listen to one of my favorite artist's albums in the car with my mom and have her like it just as much as I do. Either you can get it for yourself or a younger family member who likes the Jonas Brothers.

This is an awesome CD that is totally different from Jonas CDs. It's definitely worth a listen even if you're not a Jonas Brothers fan! He did a great job on this CD.
