When her friend Dan Arabus comes to town, he talks about his dream of buying his mother's freedom with the Continental notes his father left him. This was one of my favorite books as a kid. I picked it up because my name is Carrie, but it turned out to be very interesting and informative. It's a must read for all younger readers!
