Who Killed My Daughter? by Lois Duncan

On July 16, 1989, Kaitlyn Arquette was shot to death in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The police gave up, but her mother would not . . .

In this tragic memoir and investigation, Lois Duncan searches for clues to the murder of her youngest child, eighteen-year-old Kaitlyn Arquette. Duncan begins to suspect that the official police investigation of Kaitlyn’s murder is inadequate when detectives ignore her daughter’s accidental connection to organized crime in Albuquerque. When Duncan loses faith in the system, she reaches out to anyone that can help, including private investigators, journalists, and even a psychic. Written to inspire other families who have lost loved ones to unsolved crimes, Who Killed My Daughter? is a powerful testament to the tenacity of a mother’s love.

A heartbreaking personal account by an Edgar Award–winning author known for such books as I Know What You Did Last Summer, this is a true story with “all of the elements of a suspenseful mystery” (School Library Journal). This ebook features an illustrated biography of Lois Duncan including rare images and never-before-seen documents from the author’s personal collection.

This book was one of the first books I picked up in the 7th grade. It took me only 2 days to read since I found it difficult to put down. Here I am 15 years later still thinking of it. It touched me in a way no other book has.

The suspence keeps you going as you find out what a mother would do just to find out 'who killed her daughter'. Full of excitment for everyone in the family. Shows what happeneds when someone is so desperet to keep there family together when the loss of there beautiful daugter. Heart warming. Children after this book will learn to listen to there mothers and mothers will learn to love and pay all the attention in the world to there daughters because it might be the last time you see eachother, ever!! As this mother learns. Only months after this happened in her book it happened to her girl. She blames herself. But it isn't her fault.

The Arquette Family in this book, and the sequal, "One for the Wolves", tragicaly lost their daughter, Kaitlyn in 1989. In Albuquerque, NM. She was murdered, at age 19, shot in the head. Albuquerque is my hometown and I remember this well. Both books are excellent, read them both, they were written by Lois Duncan also known as Lois Arquette, Kaitlyn's Mom.

I could not put this book down. I do not have kids but I realized through reading this book just how far a mother will go for her child. I was saddened while reading this book because this woman could not get anyone to listen to her or even check into any other option of what could have happened to her daughter. The evidence never matched what the police wanted to believe happened. I suggest this book to readers.

I read this book for Language Arts and as I read it in class I had to force myself not to cry. The fact that the police don't help the Arquette family and the determination of Lois Duncan, the mother, to find her daughters killer, is so emotionally overwhelming. I was quite freaked out when Lois starts talking about how in one of her books, she wrote about a bus driver holding kids for ransom and the exact same thing happened after her book came out. The same thing also happened after her book Don't Look Behind You, only it happened to Kait. To get what I am talking about, you MUST read this book. This is the best non-fiction book i have EVER read. I really do hope that after 19 years, the Arquette family doesn't give up hope and is still determind to find Kait's killer.
