About the Author

Victoria Sue fell in love with love stories as a child when she would hide away with her mom’s library books and dream of the dashing hero coming to rescue her from math homework. She never mastered math but when she ran out of library books she decided to write her own. Loves reading and writing about gorgeous boys loving each other the best—especially with a paranormal twist—but always with a happy ending. Is an English northern lass currently serving twenty to life in Florida—unfortunately, she spends more time chained to her computer than on a beach.
Loves to hear from her readers and can be found most days lurking on Facebook where she doesn’t need factor 1000 sun-cream to hide her freckles.

Independent reviewer for Divine Magazine, I was gifted the AUDIO copy of this book. This is book two in the Enhanced Series, and you really SHOULD read or listen to book one, Five Minutes Longer, before you start this one. It's a continuation of Talon and Finn's tale, and not all is repeated here. Talon and Finn are partners in all ways, it's just not common knowledge. When Finn is sent undercover to try to locate the missing Enhanced children, Talon has to dig deep within himself to let Finn do his job, and then for Talon to do his, when Finn turns up missing too. For most of this book, I wanted to punch Talon in the face so bloody hard!! He's such an idiot when it comes to Finn doing his job, he really is! I get he cares for Finn, very much so, but Finn came into Talon's world as his WORK partner, and that has to be front and centre. But no, Talon's reaction to Finn going undercover is to bury his head in the sand, and ignore Finn. So much so, Finn thinks to leave Florida and find himself some who really appreciates him. But in Talon's defense, he is dealing with his ever increasing powers, taking on the powers of the other team members, and it does take its toll on him. I found this one a little more explicit than book one, as Talon and Finn's physical relationship seems to be the outlet for their work situations frustration, for BOTH of them. No complaining, min, no ma'am not at all! Even though I wanted to punch Talon, he does somewhat redeem himself when they get home! The missing children has *some* conclusion, but there are still some unanswered questions. We meet some new people, both Enhanced and regular. When Talon finally gets his head out his ass, and *literally* explodes, it's Finn that brings him back from the brink. Finn's words said to him, that words Talon longed to hear, and indeed say, manage to clear his mind and focus in time to save them both. Nick J Russo again narrates. I love his narration again. His voices are clear, and consistent across both books, and I have no trouble following multi person conversations. His reading voice is deep and even, making it such an easy listen! Russo gets all of Finn's emotions when Talon almost blanks him, and I felt for Finn, I really did. Listening to a book is such a different experience to reading, and the narrator makes listening to this book such a pleasure. Of course, a narrator can ONLY reads the words he's given and if Victoria Sue continues to write about these guys, I'm gonna be listening! (I don't like to flip between listening and reading in a series, I find I lose something if I do!) Off to listen to book three, Beneath The Mask. I've a feeling Gael is in a world of hurt and the guys don't really know how deep it goes! 5 stars for the book 5 stars for the narration 5 stars overall **same worded review will appear elsewhere**

Who We Truly Are is the second book in the Enhanced series by Victoria Sue and this story just gets better and better. I love the humor and fun in these books, and the hot and sexy dynamic between Finn and Talon is just icing on the cake. Seriously, if you’re looking for a great paranormal romance the Enhanced series is just what you need. Just make sure you read Five Minutes Longer first before jumping into this book. (In fact this review has some spoilers from the first book - so be warned.) I really enjoy the fresh and creative spin Victoria Sue puts on this genre. It’s a little bit dystopian but still completely relatable to the world we live in today. She explores some interesting facets of what the introduction of enhanced humans would do to our society. Most disturbing are the wide variety of ways families deal with having an enhanced child and the complications which come along with it. Likewise, the government is struggling to keep up with changes that need to be made to provide for enhanced beings. Talon and Finn make an interesting duo as a team comprised of an enhanced and regular human as the FBI explores how a Human Enhanced Rescue Organization (H.E.R.O.) can work in this new world. I love the pairing of sweet, inexperienced Finn with Talon as the totally hot and sexy, slightly jaded, older agent. The challenges this dynamic creates are a carry-over from the first book and continue to test their relationship. Talon has some tough times in Who We Truly Are. Between coming to grips with his deepening affection for Finn, his mother’s unwelcome reappearance in his life, and the changes going on with his abilities, Talon’s issues provide some interesting ways Victoria Sue could take this series, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. Finn is just beginning to gain some confidence as an agent and wants to show he can do the job. Because he is still learning he makes some pretty bad mistakes, but he perseveres and suffers everything that goes along with having to own up to them. His insecurities come out in his romantic relationship with Talon too; but it’s okay because they work it all out in the sexiest way possible *wink*. This is the perfect series for Nick J. Russo’s talented narration. He’s great at infusing a little humor in just the right places and his subtle brand of sexy snark lights me up just right. There are some intense scenes in Who We Truly Are and Russo brings the emotion, but keeps it real. Victoria Sue has some wonderful tidbits about this series on her website, as well as a few scenes that didn’t make it into the books. So, if you’re a fan I encourage you to check it out. There are several ways the next book could go, but it’s safe to say it will be centered around Gael (yay)... and his new human partner. Whatever challenges the H.E.R.O.s face, it’s sure to be a seriously good time, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

So.Dam.Good. This Book 2 storyline starts approximately 8 weeks after Book 1 finished. Talon is still reeling about what happened to Finn and to say that he’s not handling it well, is putting it mildly. But that’s not the only problem he has to contend with, enhanced children are disappearing and his own abilities seem to be evolving and he’s convinced it's not in a good way……. The range of emotions that went through me when reading, left me an emotional wreck. Firstly my heart got shredded from the sheer callousness of people’s greed. I suffered hot-flushes from the off-the-chart-sex-scenes and my pulse rate went critical with what was happening to Talon himself, the confusion, the fear and ultimately the decisions he was making and what that could mean for Finn! He truly does believe that he’s not good enough for our wondrous Finn (no spoilers as such, but Finn still believes he’s not good enough for Talon and making decisions based on that fact *sighs*). The first book was a fast rollercoaster of a ride, jammed packed with action, whereas this storyline is much slower. And to be truthful, I appreciated the author taking this approach. She fed us more information about the enhanced as a whole, but more importantly, the Group themselves. As readers, we got to know them as individuals and a few more answers to the some of the questions still left unanswered. It truly is a great second instalment to this superb, imaginative Series and the potential it has, is limitless. But I need also to mention the ending, it was perfect for this book and just so typically Finn….. Five truly exceptional stars from me. P.s. I forgot to mention Gael Peterson. Watch out for him, but only watch. He’s mine! P.p.s. Keep your eyes glued on Drew, he's a piece of shi*e. If anyone deserves an unpleasant ending, it's him.

I love Finn and Talon. Talon and Finn had a nice HFN (happy for now) at the end of book one, Five Minutes Longer. In book 2, Who We Truly Are, we learn more about their relationship. While I think you might be able to read book 2 without reading book 1 first, you would be missing a lot of background information about the entire Enhanced team/world that would definitely enhance your pleasure of book 2. Finn is once again put through the wringer, going undercover to try and find out where missing Enhanced children are being taken. Talon has to deal with his wanting to protect Finn and still let him do his job. It's not an easy thing and continues to cause difficulty in their relationship. In Who We Truly Are we also get more in-depth knowledge of the Human Enhanced Rescue Organization and the other members of the team. While the pace is a bit more sedate than book 1, I think it was just right for this story and there are still plenty of heart pounding things going on. I love epilogues and the one for this book is perfect. We get a nice ending to a great story and it also sets things up for book 3. I wouldn't say there is any kind of a cliffhanger – Talon and Finn's relationship is resolved – but I was definitely left wanting to read book 3 as soon as possible. I think the Enhanced series proves Victoria Sue's ability to write wonderful stories in a wide variety of romance genres. I've loved her historical series - Innocent, her shifter series - Sirius Wolves and now Enhanced - which has more of a sci-fi feel to me. She remains firmly on my list of favorite authors and I don't plan on missing any of her books from here on out. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author. This review will be posted to Xtreme-Delusions dot com on July 15, 2017.
