About the Author

Mikayla Grace Lowery was born in China on August 23rd, 2005 in a large city called Chong Qing. Someone took her to an orphanage where she stayed for a year. She was blessed beyond measure to be adopted by Scott and Jenny Lowery of Cartersville, Georgia, one month after her first birthday. By age nine, she had written over two hundred short stories. Charlie's Port saw tremendous potential in her career as an author and has published her Zoey's Zany Life series and her first picture book, Why Do Birds Eat Bagels? She is an amazing girl with countless supporters and has appeared on Fox 5 Atlanta, in The Daily Tribune, and was featured at The Decatur Book Festival onstage in the Family Zone.Mikayla stays active with running, plays the piano, is very active at her church, and loves all forms of visual art, painting, and drawing. A consistent straight-A student, she is a member of the National Honor Society and never gives up on a goal.

Keller Pyle's colorful illustrations have filled the pages of many children's books such as Once Upon a Zoo and All Aboard Georgia. With a passion for art, he earned a BFA in illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. His love of dinosaurs and birds showed him a unique perspective when illustrating Why Do Birds Eat Bagels? Keller lives in Cartersville, Georgia, with his dogs, Hank and Rusty, and his collection of books, dinosaur toys, and tin robots.
