This book was the precursor to The Libertarian Offer (LO). It was written in 1995 by Harry Browne the Libertarian Party presidential candidate. It says pretty much what the LO says. Here's the problem with government and here's my solution.I think the LO was better written, so I'd read it instead.

Mr. Browne explains our government just grows and grows, why that is bad, how we got into trouble, how we gave up much of our freedom, AND proposes solutions to fix these problems. It is easy to read and understand. An excellent place to start reading about our government, an intellectual call to arms. Though our representatives have the best of intentions, the laws and regulations they have imposed on us are mostly unconstitutional, just don't work as intended, and are simply making things worse. Our representatives keep regulating and taxing us (the people of the United States) to pay for it all, and they provide the best benefits for themselves. We will soon be a SOCIALIST country, instead of the Constitutionally Limited Federal REPUBLIC (not a Democracy) that we are ... if WE don't begin changing things NOW.

Outstanding! If libertarians weren't so opposed to coercion, they'd make you read this book! Your life and awareness will change radically for the better. Nowhere else will you get such comprehensive coverage and complete honesty about The System and why (as you long suspected) no government on earth has ever worked well. Fresh viewpoints and deep insights into the way things work, especially politics. Libertarian philosophy borders on being scientifically provable, and will make you interested in politics and voting again. This book is an exposition of how virtually all minority groups of the world--racial minorities, neo-Nazis, Christians, Amish, anti-tax people, home schoolers, gun enthusiasts, naturists, homosexuals, prostitutes, pornographers, gamblers, Cannabis users, tobacco users, home brewers, farmers, environmentalists, Ferrari drivers, pilots, doctors, business owners, teachers, police, parents, liberals, conservatives, and everyone else--can realistically live together and still achieve their desired lifestyles without interference from Big Brother or their neighbors. This is the politics of the future.
