The fourth book in the Steele Securities series suffers from choppy editing and story development. It needed at least one more pass with the editor to fill in gaps in the story lines. This book tells Rebel's story, as he is reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Heather, an amazing oncology nurse who is being stalked by someone bent on revenge. Reveal of their personal tragedy is deftly handled, but the jumps back and forth between past and present day are jarring. Characters and relationships from earlier books in the series continue, and there's fun banter in the dialogue, but the dramatic story suffers from lack of sufficient background development of certain plot points and characters. The reveal of the villain's identity early on is sudden and choppy unless you've read book three, and the dramatic turns interspersed with graphic sex don't have the flow, pacing, or emotional turmoil found in earlier books in the series. Rebel and Heather are interesting characters, and while their lifelong love story is appealingly romantic, this story lacks the finesse of earlier books in the series.
Rebel with a cause Braxton Reed aka Rebel has a secret he's been hiding and now someone else knows about it, the wrong person. He's been a devoted soldier most of his life and has never held back when it comes to helping his brothers, the men of Steele Security, Now they all need each other. Heather Reed loves her family and her job. Being a nurse has been very fulfilling for her but now her life is in jeopardy and being the person she is, she won't go down without swinging. This is the 4th book in the Steele Security series and probably my favorite but I have to say I'm looking forward to the next book. The author has created a world of intrigue and subterfuge and taken us all for a ride. Rebel has been the wallflower of the group and I'm glad we got a look into his life and it was nothing like I expected. I loved Heather, she was a strong, independent woman much like the others in this series. You don't have to have read the others in the series to read this one but I highly recommend it as the characters from the other books make many appearances throughout this book.
I am a huge fan of A.D. Justice and the Steele Security books but I didn't love this one as much as the other ones. I still love all the characters and how they are a family unit . I was just expecting to learn more about Rebel and Heather as a couple and I did but then it just skipped like over 10 years that they where in this relationship that some people knew about but most didn't. I thought the focus was to much on the mission or threat that was happening. The Last 30% was amazing and I will definitely read the rest of the series. This book is most definitely action packed and fast paced so hold on to your pages
OMG, why can't I give it more than five stars? Wicked Intentions is the fourth book in the Steele Security series, and it grips the reader from the first page to the last one. It picks up right where book three left off, after the author dropped the little bombshell that Rebel was married. To say that he loves his wife Heather, is putting it mildly, she is his everything, and I do mean everything. When the bad guys decide to go after Heather, they signed their own death warrant. In the beginning of the book, A.D. Justice flipped back and forth from the present to the past,to give the reader the back story of Braxton (Rebel) and Heather Reed, oh and what a story it is. Heather is an oncology nurse who is independent, strong willed, stubborn and smart. There is nothing wimpy about her and she is the perfect match for Rebel, who has to be the perfect male. He is protective, possessive, and totally dedicated to Heather. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic suspense, you will not be disappointed in it, but you do need to read the other books in this series so that you will know what is going on. Be prepared for a very emotional and passionate read, that will keep you glued to the pages from beginning to the end!
I just love this series. Can't wait for the next book.
