Sophie has always been one of my go-to authors. However, this was by far my least favorite of her books. The premise was interesting. The heroine transformed from a seemingly deep character to a simpering idiot after the third chapter and the hero was completely forgettable and only slightly less obnoxious than the heroine. Even now, a few weeks after having read it... I'm still annoyed.

Not quite good as the first book in the series but still an entertaining read.

Good book- this was the first  had read of this author. The story moves well and there is great character chemistry between them

This story and the characters are likeable enough, but that is about it. Writing is competent, but not particularly evocative.

When I read a review here about this book I was prepared to be disappointed. Instead I was greatly pleased. This book was a continuation of the three friends at Penwich School for Girls. The last of the friends finds her mate and two half sisters which may lead to other books. Marguerite is a practical and logical nurse but, when something almost supernatural occurs it shakes her out of her comfort zone and into the arms of her father's business partner. But, according to her father a gutter rat isn't good enough for his daughter. I thought this character was well developed and consistent with how she was portrayed in the other books. I think the author walked a fine line between the romance and the supernatural in this book. It almost put me off but, I kept thinking this is when the scientific revolution really began to develop. After all bleeding with leeches was an acceptable and common medical practice for many ailments. A series of coincidences can shake anyone's common sense. In the end the author I believe resolved those issues in an satisfying measure. I recommend this series to anyone. I recommend the author as well.
