The Bible, particularly the Old Testament, is full of stories of strange and unusual happeningsstrange because they are unfamiliar and unexpected and hard to understand. Frogs infest a palace. A donkey talks. Rivers turn to blood. These events may seem impossible, but the Bible says they all happened. This book will explore each weird and wacky event by looking at it through the lens of its cultural or theological relevance. And by pairing the story with engaging artwork, this collection will draw in even the reluctant reader.

What a delightful book to have in your home for a fun look at the bible, geared to 6 to 9 year olds, but my twelve year old had a great time with this read. We all read things that make us scratch our heads, really not familiar to us, we get to read about some of these things and have delightful illustrations to go along. There is a table of contents and that give you a quick look, with pictures, of where to turn for the stories you want to read, “Frogs in the Bed and Flies in the Soup” page 8 or “Fingers Floating Free” page 74. Had a hard time getting the boys to put this one down. I received this book through Worthy Kids/Ideals and Museum of the Bible, and was not required to give a positive review.
This book is about different stories in the Bible and what might have really been the cause of what happened. This is well written and fun to read. I love the pictures that were chosen. I received a copy of this book from Worthy Kids for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Laid out in attention grabbing microbites of information with short text giving the Wild and Wacky Thing on each two-page spread and the biblical reference for the story, there are other coordinated facts, activities, and Did You Know? areas of information that will add so much fun and learning of science as well as Biblical information. Mom and Dad will be interested in this wealth of information that makes delving into Scripture so much fun with lots of emphasis on educational entertainment.
