About the Author

Born in Columbus in 1991, Lindsay Dale-Scott made her mark on the illustration industry after encouragement from both parents to pursue a creative career. While studying graphic design and illustration at Columbus College of Art and Design, she earned an award for her advertising campaign for the sloth sanctuary (she loves sloths!) of Costa Rica. She gained local, regional, and national recognition with the American Advertising Awards, "The Addy’s." Lindsay describes her work as whimsical with a soft, sophisticated touch, drawing inspiration from classic Disney artist Mary Blair. Vintage posters, folk and fairy tales, and things that are a bit quirky also inspire her. She currently resides in Cleveland with her husband, two bunnies Sam and Pepper, a teddy bear named Toby, and a long-haired Dachshund named Violet. She enjoys living outside the city but is always keen to make trips into the city and other towns for inspiration.

Courtney Acampora holds a B.A. in art history from San Diego State University and a M.A. from the University of Arizona. Currently working in publishing, Courtney's lifelong love for both art and books fused together and gave her the opportunity to write and create engaging books for kids. Courtney lives in San Diego, California.

Maggie Fischer is originally from Oregon but moved to San Diego, California, after receiving her B.A. in English from Gonzaga University. The daughter of a children’s librarian, Maggie has books in her blood, and relishes the opportunity to write and edit books for kids. She spends her time forgetting to take advantage of the beach, pretending the neighbor’s cat is her own, and listening to true crime podcasts that keep her up at night.

This adorable little board book introduces us to infamous Mexican artist, Frida Kahlo, in a fun and animalistic way. I received a free physical copy of this board book from the publisher to facilitate a review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I love the concept of this series! It gives real information about Frida Kahlo's life, some of which probably isn't too interesting for the babies and toddlers that will have it read to them, but still important. We learn all about her home, her culture, and her hobby as well as major events in her life. The play on words makes this extra purrfect! There are so many and it makes it extra fun to emphasize them and see if my little one catches on to the change or not. I do think some of the words are a bit difficult to follow and would make more sense to an adult than a young reader. I'm looking forward to reading more of the Wild Bios board books for both the reimagining of famous persons and the fun words that are included!
