This book is a must for anyone who is interested in wildlife photography. From the beginner to the seasoned expert, it is chocked full of fantastic information and absolutely breathtaking photography. Personally, I read this book from a hunter and fisherman's stand point (more interested in the pictures themselves), but have now found myself wanting to pursue the many joys that come from wildlife photography. Needless to say, it had that big of an impact on me! Fishing is typically a very active sport, but hunting sometimes involves long hours upon hours in a tree stand which can lead one to become complacent, or even flat out bored at times. After reading Joe's book, I thought to myself, "what better way to spend my time on stand (or even walking to and from stand) than capturing the endless beauties of Mother Nature!" This book will certainly have a place in my backpack this hunting season as it contains all of the do's and don'ts that one would need to successfully capture the moment. It is well written and easy to understand so it is perfect for the beginner such as myself, but Joe also has written it in a way that will benefit the more experienced photographer also. Definitely highly recommended for anyone interested in this wonderful hobby!

This book is for those who are serious about truly wild wildlife photography. He covers the research and planning for such shoots. He gives lists of the necessary equipment not just for taking the picture itself but also what you need to survive in the wilderness. He goes very in depth with these items and the other necessary skills of tracking, camouflage, and calling which enable the amazing wildlife images in the book. He also stresses keeping safe and legal in all activities. He also states right from the start you should already have the photography knowledge behind you. This is not a book about f-stops and shutter speeds but it is a great read for those wanting to take their wildlife skills to the next level.

I wasn't sure what to expect as I began reading this book, but as I got into it, a whole new world was opened before me. I learned how to recognize the often hidden beauty of nature in both the most obvious as well as most hidden of places. The content of the book is straight-forward and easy to understand. I'd recommend this book for both serious photographers, as well as those who simply enjoy fantastic nature and wildlife photography. The photography in this book is absolutely amazing!

In a nutshell, Mr. Classen's book, "Wildlife Photography", is a very educational and entertaining resource, filled with everything a person needs to know to be a better photographer, wildlife or otherwise. The novice, the intermediate (like me), or even the professional, will benefit from the tips, tricks and techniques found in this book, and will dramatically increase the likelihood of a successful Photo Adventure. Wildlife Photography takes a person through researching, pre-planning, packing, using camouflage, stealth and scents, area and camera set up, gear, clothing, photo framing, lighting, backgrounds, foregrounds, and after-the-shot processing. It also encourages a person to leave nature undamaged from your presence, and preserved for the next photo adventurer. This information will just about insure that your next Photo Safari will produce images and memories you can share for a lifetime. Oh, yeah, as evidence of Mr. Classen's abilities, the book is filled with some of his incredible photography.
