These five chapters in this short little book were prepared and presented as sermons. He has left them, he says, in the same direct form in which they were first written down, with no attempt to hide the fact that they were prepared as sermons. In just 85 pages, Weatherhead shows three different meanings for the phrase "the will of God.." They are (1) the intentional Will of God, (2) God's circumstantial will, and (3) God's ultimate will. These are separate and distinct, and to use the phrase "the will of God" with no more precision than that is to invite misunderstanding.

Weatherhead was able to bring since of the madness of the world during the darkest days of this century. A series of sermons given during WWII that helps us understand 'The will of God' for yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

This is a collection of the text of 5 sermons written during WWII. It asks us to consider what we mean by "the Will of God." Clearly written. Thought-provoking.

All of us who have wondered about the evil in the world and how to reconcile the presence of God will be comforted by this thoughtful book, The Will of God, by Leslie D. Weatherhead. I bought it for a book/Bible study at my church, and I must say I am glad I participated in the study and read the book. Many of the questions I've been asked by my young adult children (in their 20s) about how could I continue to believe in God when so many bad things happen were made clearer to me by Rev. Weatherhead's book. I hope others will find it to be as illuminating and thought-provoking as I have.
