Preface

Williams Textbook of Endocrinology is designed to serve as a bridge between basic science and clinical endocrinology. The main objective is to provide a condensed and authoritative discussion of the management of clinical endocrinopathies, based upon the application of fundamental information obtained from chemical and physiologic investigations.

The ninth edition of Williams Textbook of Endocrinology has been extensively revised to reflect the rapid change in endocrine science. Molecular genetics, cell biology, and molecular biology are integrated throughout. New chapters have been added on the pathogenesis of endocrine tumors and on autoimmunity, and nine chapters have new authors.
