Willing Sacrifice by Joey W. Hill

Janet prefers her men submissive, her relationships confined to a club environment. Which is why her attraction to former Navy SEAL Max doesn't make a lot of sense. There isn't a submissive bone in his honed, muscular body, suggesting that her interest in him is best indulged as a private fantasy. After a crisis situation reveals a different side of them both, the attraction becomes mutual, explosive and undeniable. They take the plunge, willing to see if the give-and-take of their unexpected relationship can satisfy their deepest desires. Unfortunately, ghosts from their past might take the reins from them both, destroying the balance of power before their love can find a way to tip the scales.

About the Author

Joey W. Hill writes about vampires, mermaids, boardroom executives, cops, witches, angels, simple housemaids... She's penned over forty acclaimed titles and six award-winning series, and been awarded the RT Book Reviews Career Achievement Award for Erotica. But she's especially proud and humbled to have won the support and enthusiasm of a wonderful, widely diverse readership.
So why erotic romance? “Writing great erotic romance is all about exploring the true face of who we are – the best and worst - which typically comes out in the most vulnerable moments of sexual intimacy.” She has earned a reputation for writing BDSM romance that not only wins her fans of that genre, but readers who would “never” read BDSM romance. She believes that's because strong, compelling characters are the most important part of her books.
“Whatever genre you’re writing, if the characters are captivating and sympathetic, the readers are going to want to see what happens to them. That was the defining element of the romances I loved most and which shaped my own writing. Bringing characters together who have numerous emotional obstacles standing in their way, watching them reach a soul-deep understanding of one another through the expression of their darkest sexual needs, and then growing from that understanding into love - that's the kind of story I love to write."
Take the plunge with her, and don't hesitate to let her know what you think of her work, good or bad. She thrives on feedback!

Absolutely love this series and was super excited when it continued with Janet's and Max's story. Through the previous books in Knights of the Boardroom, I had come to love Janet and Max. Both Janet and Max had to come to terms with their past before they could reach their HEA. This was NOT easy and created some roadblocks for the couple. As always, Joey pulls you into the story so that you become a part of it. Plus, Joey write HOT love scenes :). I cannot wait to read Unrestrained which is next in the series.

The prologue had me hooked, I didn't want to put the book down and I most definitely didn't want it to end! I can't wait to read more about Dale in the next book released Dec. 3rd! Janet and Max were a complex couple, neither looking but both finding exactly what they needed. There were moments that had me laughing and even more that had me fighting back tears. This is definitely not a light read, if your looking for emotion, depth and characters you can fall in love with you've found it. Whether this is your first experience with the "Knights" or you've fallen in love with the previous characters like I have this promises to be an excellent journey.

Reviewed by Victoria Book provided by Ellora’s Cave Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Willing Sacrifice is the sixth book in the Knights of the Board Room series by Joey W. Hill. I chose this book because it is out of my comfort zone. I like male domination stories not female domination stories. However, I was very surprised with this story. While this is this is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel. Janet has a nickname of Ice Queen. She has been hurt in ways while on one hand is realistic but on the other hand is hard to believe someone would do that to another. She is a wonderful combination hard and soft. Max really makes this story. While Max is no sub, not now nor in the future will he ever be. He seems to enjoy Janet meeting her needs and indulging him with his after. The chemistry between Janet and Max is explosive. The sex between Janet and Max is off the charts. I enjoyed the compromise Janet and Max came to so they could be together. I enjoyed that Janet respected Max, his needs and met her own needs as well. This is one of the few stories that there is nothing that I would change with this story. Overall, this was a surprisingly wonderful story. I enjoyed this much more than I expected too. Now I plan on going back and reading the books I missed in the series.

Book 6 in Joy's Knights of the Boardroom series. While Max doesn't make use of the Boardroom, he is a true knight. A former Navy SEAL he is a protector to most he comes contact with. If you have read other books in the series you know Max is a driver and security for the firm. The Heroine is Janet, Administrative Assistant to Matt Keningston. She is a Domme, ballet dancer and a very self-assured and formidable woman. A rough idea about the characters and when Joey pairs them one very hot, fantastic book. Definitely a book that I will reread many times.

The very definition of a "love story" from beginning to end. Another great one from the one-and-only Joey W Hill.

Beautiful! There is no one who does this type of story better than Joey Hill. You will feel every strained emotion and heart wrenching  thought. The BDSM, as always, enhances the experience. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend ! I’m so glad we got Janet and Max’s story. The background for both of these characters is going to be a surprise for those of us that already fell in love with them in the Knights of the Boardroom series. I won’t spoil it for you with the details, but they each had to overcome some major trust issues to allow this story to develop. I enjoyed the sex scenes, they were all very well done and some were very imaginative. I know my review does not do this story justice, but I will say buy this book, you will love it.

Joey W. Hill does it again!   Janet Albright, executive secretary for Matt Kensington CEO of K&A has a lot of other names… Ice Queen, Dragon Lady and Mistress. She is a strong woman and she deals with strong men every day. In the bedroom she likes her men submissive so she can’t figure out just what her attraction to Max Ackerman. Max, a former SEAL, is attractive but he isn't a sub by any stretch of the imagination. Still there is chemistry there. When they decide to explore they find they have more in common than they knew. Maybe it will be enough. They connect on so many levels a little give and take on both sides lead them to a possibility of a future together until ghosts from their pasts interfere. Can their new found feelings overcome the scars of the past? Joey W. Hill does it again! The Knights of the Board Room series explored varied versions/levels of BDSM relationships. In this installment she explores whether a Mistress can be happy in a relationship with someone who isn't a sub. She handles it with sensitivity and compassion. There is a lot going on in this book and I will read and re-read to get every drop out of it. I am a huge fan of Joey W. Hill so I don’t know how objective I can be so I urge you to read for yourself.
