Overview

Willing Victim by Cara McKenna

A re-release of the 2010 fan favorite, with light revisions and an expanded ending.

For the past couple years Laurel's been coasting, hiding in the backseat while her life drifts off course. Then one summer afternoon a tall, built bruiser named Flynn strides in and steers her straight into an infatuation she never saw coming.

Flynn introduces Laurel to things she's never imagined before--to the violent but exciting realm of the underground boxing circuit, to rough sex and even rougher role-playing, and to an attraction she craves even as it intimidates her. As Flynn invites her deeper into his world and his life, Laurel has to make a choice--let fear keep her holed up where it's safe, or take a chance and fight for the man who makes her feel more alive than she'd dreamed possible.

REALLY enjoyed this book. Was afraid it would be too much but the writer handled the scenes beautifully and it turned out to be a great love story. Impressed with the characters and their stories. Good read.

Loved this book. The characters seem so real, just normal everyday people, likable too. You don't get that enough in this genre. Liked how their relatioship progressed. Wish their was a book 2. Oh, and the sex was so freakin hot!

The book was very well written, in that unique style that McKenna has to reveal the emotional side of the characters and connect the readers with them. The erotic aspect of the story was not my cup of tea, though I must say it was handled very nicely by the author. I thought it may be too much, but it ended up being OK. Now, you are still reading a story about two strangers that hook up to have sex, rough sex with role playing pretending is forced. I just found some scenes difficult to relate to. In addition, the end felt as if it was cut harsh. I was expecting more character development, more story, but that was it. It felt incomplete.

I have to say the beginning does give one pause. But stick with it and it is so worth it. The ending was really very sweet.

Really wonderful, believable characters and, as usual, good writing by the author.  I never feel like I am proofreading (and cringing at mistakes) when I read McKenna/Maguire novels...I can just relax and escape. I was emotionally drawn into the story; the characters were so real and flawed....not a billionaire or twenty-something virgin anywhere around. Oh, and so hot :) This book and "After Hours" are my favorites by McKenna.

This was my first book by this author and I'll be reading more of her stuff. The characters are well done and very real- they're emotional and thoughtful. Original premise; I loved it.

The two guys having sex with her put me off. Otherwise it was okay.

In this erotic romance we are treated to the story of Laurel and Flynn. When Laurel first encounters Flynn she is struck by his size, his absolute maleness and she surprises herself by asking him out. His answer is to lead her like Alice down the rabbit hole, to a world of underground fighting, rough sex and a new understanding of her own desires. I loved everything about this story. The tension (sexual and otherwise) starts at the first page and doesn't let up, keeping you hooked as Laurel goes from voyeur to willing participant. Flynn is so well characterized as a brute on the outside, but with a tender and caring heart just waiting for the right woman to see it. Laurel is equally engaging as a woman finding out things about herself that she never expected, and falling for Flynn along the way. It was so interesting to see the backwards progression of sex in this story, starting out with base sexual encounters and moving towards emotional and caring moments- the exact opposite of what one might expect. Cara McKenna can always be counted on to surprise and delight her readers with her honest and flawed characters as they explore the boundaries of their sexuality. 5 stars.

My favorite Cara McKenna book. Don't be put off by the premise...its not nearly as rough as it may seem at first. My only wish was that the ending was a bit more developed.

OMG! Freaking love Flynn! I have been jonesing to read this book for about a month now. Got a gift card so I got it. Laurel is my new shero. She saw what she wanted and went after him. She stepped out of her comfort zone and got the 6'3 1/2" prize. Good gravy, why couldn't there have been a Flynn in my Easter basket. This is definitely going on my read it again list.
